BOOK BLURB – WIND CHILL:
Freezing temperatures can kill…
A serial killer the press has dubbed the Christmas killer is
taking lives…and he’s not finished yet.
All
Special Agent Gia Franklin’s sister Carly wanted was for Gia to come home for
Christmas.
But
Gia avoids the holidays, using her job as an excuse to stay away. For weeks, she’s been tracking The Christmas
Killer, a cold-hearted monster who strangles his victims and poses them with
one of the Twelve Days of Christmas ornaments. With nine women dead, and only
four days until Christmas, she must stop him before he kills again.
Then
he makes the case personal by kidnapping Carly, and Gia must go home.
Aware
she may be walking into a trap, she teams up with sexy, local Sheriff Murphy
Malone to stop the madness, and save the holiday for her sister and the town.
But the clock is ticking.
And
the CK has his own holiday plans – ornaments eleven and twelve belong to the
Franklin sisters, and he won’t stop until they’re dead…

EXCERPT TWO:
Gia
pounded her pillow in frustration. She hadn’t slept in two days. But even
exhausted, sleep eluded her.
The
screams of the dead girls echoed in her ears.
When
she closed her eyes, their beautiful gazes, frozen in the shock of death,
stared back at her.
She
had to stop this madness before he reached a dozen. He could disappear. Or
start over again next year.
Her
phone buzzed on the nightstand and she snatched it, hoping again for a tip.
Carly again.
The
last thing she felt like doing was arguing with her sister tonight. She’d
thought they had the holiday visit settled. It was just too hard for her to go
back to that house. To the bedroom where she’d grown up. To the pictures on the
mantle when they were together.
She
rolled over and punched the pillow again. But the phone continued to ring.
Battling anger and fatigue, she snatched it and connected the call. Before she
could speak, a low wail echoed over the line.
“Help
me, Gia...please help me!”
“Carly
–”
Cold
terror swept over Gia as the phone line died in her hand.

AUTHOR BIO:
USA
Today Bestselling and award-winning author Rita Herron fell
in love with books at the ripe age of eight when she read her first Trixie
Belden mystery. Although she wanted to be a writer then and actually scrawled
her first novel at age twelve, she didn't think real people grew up to be
writers, so she became a kindergarten teacher instead. Ten years ago, she
traded her classroom storytelling and puppets for a computer and now writes so
she doesn't have to get a real job.
Having
sold over fifty books to date, she enjoys spinning spine-tingling romantic
suspense tales filled with murder, mayhem, and spicy romance as well as sexy
romantic comedies. Rita Herron currently writes romantic suspense for Harlequin
Intrigue and she's writing dark, gritty romantic suspense thrillers for Amazon
Montlake.
If
you want to know more about Rita or have a question for her about her books, or
writing in general, email Rita and she'll be happy to answer your question.

ReplyDeleteGood afternoon, My question for you today is if you had to do much research for the meteorological aspect of your story? I'm asking because I was a Meteorology major and I love the science of storms.
ReplyDeleteWe all did quite a bit of research for this series, basing much of the storm's pattern and effect on the massive winter storm of 1982 that innundated the midwest north-central part of the US. :)
DeleteThank you for responding and for sharing that information. I am really looking forward to reading this series
