BLURB:

"When we get to the end of our day, we want to sit back and reflect on everything we did, and we want to know in our hearts that we did a good job being good diabetics for another day."

A book for all ages, and whether you are diabetic or live with some one who is, this book is a valuable and educational read for everyone.

Larry the left foot and Roger the right foot are sure to delight and amuse you as they take you through a typical day in their lives. They show you how they strive to be the very best diabetics that they can be by living a healthy lifestyle every single day. As a result of dedication to their plan, they are certain that they will live longer, happier lives full of enjoyment and fun.

This is a multidimensional book featuring a short illustrated story that portrays a day in the life of a diabetic. On a whole different level, each page is full of great information for those who wish to dig a bit deeper into the whys and hows of simplifying diabetic life. It also includes many references, in a system that is built to help in teaching you how to find the answers to any questions that you may have.

EXCLUSIVE EXCERPT:

Keeping our socks and shoes on for protection is a simple habit that can save us and save our human’s life. We have indoor shoes and outdoor shoes. This keeps us safe from hazards that may be lying around. We check our shoes before we put them on, and we make sure that we always wear shoes inside.

Today we also have sandals that we’ll wear from the change room to the pool and back for swim time. Swimming is the only exercise I can get Roger to do without complaining. It reminds him of the bath.

“The only thing missing is the bubbles,” Roger says happily as we jump into the water and stretch ourselves before starting a lazy front crawl.

Little things like blisters or cuts can lead to big problems for a diabetic foot.

“I’m so thankful that my blister has healed and we were able to get back in the pool today for a good swim,” says Roger. Keeping ourselves safe and ulcer-free takes priority.

Other things that can affect a diabetic foot are things that we can pick up in a communal area like a pool, the pool deck, or change rooms. Things like warts and fungus can be very serious for a diabetic foot.

“SHOE DO’S AND DON’TS"

DO

*Immediately buy shoes that fit comfortably.

*Check feet more carefully and frequently when wearing new shoes.

*Wear shoes that allow air to circulate (natural fibres such as leather and fabric).

*Allow your shoes to dry out between wearing.

*Look for a shoe that is shaped like a foot.

*Wear protective footwear at a beach or pool.

*If your feet are numb, keep your shoes on all the time (except when you go to bed or bathe).

*Inspect your shoes every day for foreign items or ripped linings,

DON’T

*Don’t go barefoot or sock foot ever, even at home.

*Don’t wear open toed shoes.

*Don’t wear plastic or synthetic shoes.

*Avoid tight, pointed shoes.

*Avoid high heels, as they can cause corns, calluses, and ulcers.

*Don’t wear shoes you have saved for years for special occasions.

*Avoid walking in the rain or snow.”
