EXCERPT ONE:

There’s a town called Yamba where the Clarence River meets the sea. It’s in New South Wales, Australia, and it’s a great place to be. There are beaches, boats, and fish galore. It’s home to a very cheeky pelican, who always wants more. You’ll know if you meet him; his name is Patroosh. He’ll even take food right out of your hand, or flap his big wings until you drop it in the sand.

MY REVIEW:

This book is such an adorable, charming, witty read full of enjoyable storytelling and valuable life lessons.

This book was a super quick, easy read, that children could effortlessly take pleasure in and follow along without any difficulties.

This book follows a cheeky Pelican named Patroosh.  At the beginning of the book Patroosh’s manners leave much to be desired as his behavior is mostly rude, selfish, greedy, and disrespectful.

While Patroosh is up to his usual mischievous ways he becomes caught on a plastic bag in the ocean.  He becomes completely entangled and is unable to get away.  Seamus, a little seagull that Patroosh had previously dismissed and disregarded luckily came to his rescue.  With Patroosh surviving a life and death situation all thanks to Seamus, Patroosh knows he must be more kind, selfless, considerate, and respectful.

This book focuses on some of the valuable lessons that all children should learn – such as friendship, fairness, sharing, compassion, respect, good manners, and forgiveness.  Plus, this book also stresses the importance of recycling with a clever how-to and shows the significant detriment of not doing so with trash ending up in the ocean and hurting the sea life.

This book has a charming rhyming rhythm, with fun and expressive illustrations.  Even with only 46 eBook pages the characters reach depth, maturity, and growth over the course of the story.  The story line stays on point and naturally flows.  The valuable messages integrated throughout the story are easy to identify, understand, and learn.

All in all, I really enjoyed reading this book and would absolutely recommend it!!  I think all young readers (and even those not so young lol!!) will like this book too!!  So, add it to your TBR List and get to reading - you won't be disappointed!!
