GENRE: Contemporary Romance

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
BLURB:
Tyne Newsome promised to help Daphne Ferris pick up the pieces if her professor boyfriend dumped her. Tyne is a hottie chef with no intentions of committing to anyone. He has big plans for his future. Daphne owns a stained glass shop and spends most evenings eating dinner with her parents. She prefers safety and solitude, but Tyne keeps bumping her out of her usual routines. He's not someone she can ignore. And soon, they find that they complement each other so well, they're both pushed to places they've never been before.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

EXCERPT TWO:

Tyne drove past Daphne’s shop to turn at the corner and pull into the alley that ran behind the buildings.  He glanced at the stained-glass pieces displayed in her front window.  Was the shop dark?  He frowned at the CLOSED sign hanging in the door.  What was up?  Tourists crowded the sidewalks.  They’d come to see the leaves and stopped at Mill Pond to shop and eat.  Had she closed up early to run off with Patrick?

Nope, Daphne’s SUV was parked in the back lot next to his spot.  No matter.  They probably took Patrick’s car, but when he stepped through the back door to head upstairs, Daphne sat behind the cash register, her head in her hands, her shoulders shaking.  Oh, no.  He’d never trusted the professor.  Tyne went to her.  “Hey, you okay?”  Dumb question.  Who sits there and sobs when life’s good?

She turned away from him.  He bent to wrap his arms around her.  “He dumped you?”  Did the egotist have another girl on the stringer in some other town?

No one but Daphne’s parents had been impressed with Patrick.  The professor was so self-absorbed, Tyne wondered how he could relate to his students.

GUEST POST:

5 Reasons You Should Buy Spicing Things Up:

1.  If you love chefs, you’re going to love Tyne.  Okay, I’m a foodie addict.  I drink coffee and watch the food channel every Saturday morning.  I switch to wine when Geoffrey Zakarian makes cocktails on The Kitchen for his segment It’s Five O’Clock Somewhere.  Mario Batali looks hot to me.  But hardly any chef is as hot as Tyne.  He likes things spicy and with his muscles, dirty blonde hair, and scruffy chin, girls throw themselves at him.  So what gets Tyne excited?  A Thai curry, like this one, might do it:

Easy Thai Chicken Curry  (served over rice)
Lightly cover the bottom of a large, nonstick skillet with olive oil.  Then brown:
2 lbs.  of boneless, skinless chicken tenderloins, cut into chunks
Season with salt and pepper
Add & saute’:
1 green pepper, chopped
1 red pepper, chopped
1 sweet onion, chopped
Season with salt & pepper.
When browned, add:
14 oz. canned coconut milk
1 T red Thai curry paste
1 ½ t fish bouillon & 1 ½ c hot water
3 T fish sauce
2 T sugar
1 t lemongrass from a tube
½ t turmeric
Heat through.  At end, add:
Juice of 1 lime  ….and then serve over rice and enjoy!

2.  Sidekicks make life fun, and Daphne (the female protagonist) couldn’t find anyone who’s more fun than Miriam.  Miriam teaches high school and can stop a mouthy sophomore in his tracks with one eyebrow.  I taught elementary school for six years, and my grandsons swear I still practice “the teacher” eyebrow move.  Miriam paid big bucks to have an Aga in her stone lake cottage.  Not because she ever turns it on and cooks, but because it makes her think of English cottages, high tea, and Agatha Christie.  She’s an Agatha fan.  So am I.

3.  Daphne is a nice, smart, wonderful wimp.  Doesn’t sound like a selling point, right?  But if you ever watched the beginning scene in the movie ROMANCING THE STONE, you get the idea.  Daphne even owns a cat like Joan Wilder did in that movie.  Daphne starts out like a doormat but grows stronger and more adventurous the longer the book goes.  But she doesn’t have much of a choice.  Tyne’s determined he’s going to push her out of her rut.

4.  Controlling parents finally get smart.  Daphne has never been quite good enough, quite anything enough, to impress her parents.  She can only please them if she does exactly as they ask.  But when push comes to shove, things get real.

5.  Who wouldn’t want to visit Mill Pond?  Situated in Indiana near a university and a national forest, it has a lake for boating and trails for hiking.  Ian McGregor’s resort has made it a foodie destination, and tourists flock to its specialty boutiques and shops.  The people are friendly, and once you stop to stay for a while, you never want to leave.

AUTHOR BIO:

Judi Lynn lives in Indiana with her husband, a bossy gray cat, a noisy Chihuahua, and a parakeet.  She loves to cook and owns more cookbooks than any mortal woman would ever need.  That’s why so much food sneaks into her stories.  She also loves her flower beds, but is a haphazard gardener, at best.

CONNECT WITH JUDI:

Judi’s adorable cat, Dutchy.  He loves to perch over my computer keys to be my Muse.  He’s gray with white toes and a splash of white on his chin and stomach, just like Daphne’s cat.
