The Soul Mate Tree Series
Twelve books, twelve authors. A series that casts an ancient
tree as matchmaker, stretching across time, across worlds . . . even universes.
This is the basis of The Soul Mate Tree Series.
Hi, we’re Char Chaffin and Cheryl Yeko, Senior Acquiring Editors
for Soul Mate Publishing, and The Soul Mate Tree is our brainchild.
In
2015, we started looking for more of a long-range book series project we could
develop as editors plus showcase some of Soul Mate’s talented authors. We
finally came up with the idea of an ancient ‘Soul Mate Tree’ that had the power
to connect soul mates together over time and space. We saw it as a multi-author
effort, taking place over the course of a year, one book release at a time.
When we presented the idea to Soul Mate Owner and Senior Editor Debby Gilbert,
she fell in love with the premise and gave it her professional blessing.
Right
away we knew we needed a hook of some kind if we were going to create a series
from the writings of at least twelve different authors. After deciding on
series parameters and the physical attributes and magical abilities of the
tree, we sketched out a poem, The Legend
of the Soul Mate Tree, for our series hook:
THE LEGEND OF THE SOUL MATE TREE
I am old, I am ancient, my purpose is clear
To give those who are needy a treasure so dear.
They who come to my roots, touch my bark, stroke my leaves
Find the soul of their lives if they but believe.

Within
the lines of the poem are what each potential soul mate does to find each
other: they first see the tree, then they touch it. Most of all, they are in
need and they believe.
Once
we set everything in motion amongst our authors and culled interest from a
dozen interested writers, the project took on a life of its own. Because we
opened the project to any genre, we ended up with paranormal, contemporary,
historical, time travel, and sci-fi/fantasy plotlines, each fitting perfectly
into the original parameters and each promoting our magical tree and its
abilities.

AUTHOR BIO –
CHAR CHAFFIN:
Char Chaffin writes
multi-genre romance filled with family, rich characters and engaging plots. For
her, it all comes back to the love.
Utilizing
multiple romance genres, she crafts strong yet flawed heroes and heroines who
find each other against all odds. She is currently working on her eighth novel.
Her
love of romance and erotica interspersed with paranormal, horror, science
fiction, and fantasy has inflated her reading collection into several groaning
bookcases and an overburdened Kindle. Char voraciously reads in between writing
novels, novellas, and short stories. She is multi-published, and always working
on that next manuscript.
In
addition to her solo releases, Char also co-writes with fellow editor and BFF
Cheryl Yeko under their pen name, CiCi Cordelia.
Char
is a member of several writing groups, and RWA National as well as Alaska’s RWA
chapter.
Char
and husband Don divide their time between two homes: Fairbanks, Alaska, and the
Coastal Bend of Texas.
