The Storm Within
by Cerian Hebert

GENRE: Contemporary Romance/Paranormal

Healed from her own loss, Juliana Hopkins wants nothing more than to mend reclusive artist Aidan Byrne’s heart, and help close a chapter in his life that has haunted him for over twenty years. Risking their newfound love, Juliana is determined to release the ghosts he can’t let go.

Aidan has been in love with Juliana since the first moment he saw her, but if she can’t leave the tragedies of his past alone, he won’t be able to make a life with her.

She offers him a love he never dared to want, but loving her could rip open all the old wounds he’d never been able to heal.

Aidan stared at her, only inches away from him in the tiny bathroom. The bloodied cotton ball tight in her grip, she’d broken down into heavy sobs. He wasn’t sure how to handle it. Weeping women weren’t his specialty. Hell, women in general weren’t his specialty, and now he felt completely at a loss on how to comfort her.

He’d sensed her earlier mood, when their eyes had locked in the mirror. At that moment, restless awareness turned into a new sort of tension. She’d been so close to him that he could smell the clean fragrance of her shampoo and feel her warm, tea scented breath on his neck. Fighting a similar attraction, he understood why she’d resorted to anger. He would’ve done the same thing in her shoes. Anger he could handle. Tears? That was a different story.

Quickly he grabbed a few sheets of Kleenex from the box on the back of the toilet and handed them to her. “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to make you cry. Really, it doesn’t hurt,” he said softly.

Juliana wiped the tissue across her eyes and didn’t look at him. “It’s not that,” she replied with a catch in her voice. “It’s the stupidity of you driving out there. Crazy and irresponsible. You should’ve gotten a lot more than a dumb little scratch on your face. You could’ve been killed, and you could’ve killed Fred.”

Another Win in the Soul Mate Tree Book Series!!!

This book was an enjoyable, full of emotions, entertaining, quick read at only 125 pages!  I was able to read it over a cozy weekend curled up on the couch.

I really liked the main characters, Juliana, Aidan, and of course the ever adorable furbaby, Fred!!  They were realistic, likable, and genuine.

Juliana and Aidan were both well-developed characters that had suffered through some heavy emotional baggage that made them feel guilty for surviving and being able to continue on living.  Sometimes it can be hard to confide in and explain those emotions and feelings to another person, but since Juliana and Aidan both had somewhat similar tragic pasts it really brought these two characters together and they were exactly what each other needed!

This story felt so real and personal.  The grieving process is one of the hardest things we go through.  Losing someone can completely turn your life upside down and it can feel like betrayal to move on – which is exactly how Juliana and Aidan had felt.

I loved that Juliana became this stronger, active living, secure woman and wanted to help Aidan get through his grief and get back to living his life – and living a life together.

There were just so many emotions and intense moments throughout this book!!!  At times, I found myself holding my breath, fighting back tears, laughing out loud, and cheering on this couple!!!

This book has a great storyline that flows, terrific writing style with detailed scenes, well-developed characters, is steady paced, and keeps you completely entertained through the last page.

I like that this book touches on many topics such as love, romance, friendship, second chances, tragedy, guilt, determination, healing, growth, faith, hope, magic, letting go, moving on, starting over, new beginnings, overcoming obstacles, and so much more!

This book is book eleven of the Soul Mate Tree Book Series.  Each book in this series is written by a different author, but all of them tie in to the Soul Mate Tree theme.  Therefore, each book can easily be read on its own.  This was my fifth book in the series and I did not have any trouble reading it or get lost in the story.

I will be reading and reviewing additional books in this series and look forward to sharing my take on those books with you soon!

All in all, I really enjoyed reading this book and would absolutely recommend this book to all contemporary romance, paranormal readers!
