WELCOME TO THE BLOOD CLUB
Light is a
Rocker Blood Lifer with a talent for remembering things. He’s meant to be the
predator. It’s been that way since Victorian times. But not now. Not since
someone hunted him. Enslaved him. Ripped out his fangs. Who are these ruthless
humans? Who’s their violent leader? And who betrayed the secret of the Blood
Lifer world?
WHERE THE PREDATORS
London,
Primrose Hill. Grayse is the commanding but alluring slaver’s daughter. The
enemy. She buys Light, like he’s a pair of designer shoes. So why does Light
feel so drawn to her? Especially when his family is still in chains. Will he
risk everything – even his new love – to save them?
BECOME THE PREY
Does a
chilling conspiracy lie behind it all? A stunning revelation leads Light to an
inconceivable truth. If he can face his worst terrors, he can save his family
and his whole species from slavery.
Maybe he can
even save himself.
**The
third book in the series, BLOOD RENEGADES, will be out Spring 2017**

EXCERPT TWO:
‘So I’m
behind the times because I died a Victorian?’
Your cool
gaze seemed to be sussing me out. ‘You don’t look Victorian.’
‘Didn’t
exactly stay dead.’ I pushed away from the fireplace, jumping up to sit on the
arm of the leather sofa. I scrutinized your serious features and those intent
grey peepers. ‘You really don’t know anything about us Blood Lifers, do you?
How we evolved or--’
‘I know
enough.’
Surprised,
I drew back. ‘As in, only good Blood Lifer’s a dead Blood Lifer?’
You shot
me a sharp look. ‘You wouldn’t be here, if that’s what I thought.’
‘Alright
then, as in, only good Blood Lifer’s one in shackles?’
Your
mouth tightened into a thin line. ‘And what about humans? Do we come in small,
medium or large?’
‘In
America you can supersize.’ I grinned, but you didn’t return it: some birds
have no sense of humour. Of course, Ruby would’ve clocked me for that comment.
‘Look, that’s not who I am now. I’ve been on blood abstention for fifty years.’
Your
voice was so cold it could’ve given frost bite. ‘Good for you.’
‘Not
asking for a medal, sweetheart. I just wanted you to know I don’t… Not First
Lifers. Not for a long time.’
‘Makes no
difference to me.’
‘It does
to me. You’ve no idea how much.’
‘OK.’ You
turned back to your laptop, opening it with an air of indifference. Then there
was that blasted clack clacking.
I
listened for a moment in silence. Then I couldn’t hack it any longer. ‘What
does?’
‘What?’
You didn’t stop typing or look away from the screen.
‘Make a
difference to you?’
You
didn’t even pause. ‘The profit margin.’

GUEST POST:
The Worst Jane Austen
Scene Ever…Well, Maybe Not Ever – Creating an Anti-hero:
Firstly, thanks for having me on your site!
I’m a rebel. Who’d have guessed that with a new
fantasy series out called Rebel Vampires?
But Light? The British Rocker rebel with the
photographic memory? He’s even the rebel of the vampire world. Now that’s
impressive.
Rebel Vampires is set in a hidden paranormal London, where
vampires are both predator – and prey.
Where death drives desire. There are vampires, romance and rebels. And a
whole new twist on the vampire myth. And in the midst of it all? Light. The
vampire, who won’t conform. He tried it once. Didn’t fit.
I love anti-heroes. Dark. Complex. Struggling on
redemptive journeys against terrible odds. There’s something far more
passionate about a love story, which shows an adult love: obsessive,
destructive, agonizing – but true to the end. And capable of changing anything.
The dedication in both Blood Dragons and Blood Shackles is one of Light’s lines: ‘There’s nothing but
snowflake patterns.’
Everyone is an individual. Different. And Light? He’s unique.
And that’s the challenge when writing the
anti-hero. To create a true individual. The bad along with the good. Light
fails, makes bad choices and suffers. But he still fights on. He’s loyal,
persistent and keeps his promises. And you allow the reader to fall as deeply
in love with the character as you are.
Anyway, Light isn’t one for ‘labels’:
‘So many labels I can’t keep them sticky in my
mind.
Even
when you shade to grey, you call things spectrums: rainbow arcs that everyone’s
to be charted on. Sharp pins along a curve to mark our bleeding place.
So
there’s something wrong with us? But there’s nothing wrong with that because I
slashed the chart up to confetti, fluttering pieces like paper snowflakes. No
one pattern the same. And there’s nothing so pure as snow.’
Blood Dragons: Rebel Vampires Volume
1
In Rebel
Vampires the world is divided between First Lifer (human) and Blood
Lifer (vampire). But the Blood Lifers hide in the shadows from the First. Both
hunter and hunted. They’re an evolved species. Yet who knows the true apex
predator?
For 100 years in Blood
Dragons Light danced in the carnage and the flames with Ruby – a
savage Elizabethan Blood Lifer. Before his forbidden love for a human singer
(Kathy) forced him to question Blood Lifer beliefs. To blood abstain. And to
fight to save his love, both species and ultimately the world.
Blood Dragons is out now (e-book and
paperback). Click here:

Afterwards comes Light’s redemptive path. But as Light
says:
‘Crawling out of the black, Kathy once told me,
would be my redemption. I never thought redemption would be this much of a
bitch.’
Blood Shackles (Rebel Vampires Volume
2)
An anti-hero needs a love. And abducted, defanged and
enslaved by a secret human Blood Club in Blood Shackles (like Taken but with
vampires…), Light finds it with the unlikely slaver’s daughter Grayse. She
picks him out of a line up, like a kid choosing a puppy.
‘You glanced at me. ‘Cold?’
‘Yeah,
it is rather parky, darlin’.’
You
gaped at me, as if you’d been expecting me to speak some strange Blood Lifer
tongue and not the Queen’s English. Like you hadn’t assumed I’d sound…human.
Then you gathered yourself together. ‘Here,’ you led the way to a sheltered
trio of arches. ‘Better?’
‘Almost
like I wasn’t starkers.’
You
gave a tight smile.
I
leant against a column, as I had a gander back at the silhouette of the great
house, its steep terrace, and the drive sweeping down to it, between the dark
sentinels of oaks.
In
some screwed up world, this was the worst Jane Austen scene ever.
Well,
maybe not ever…’
Blood Shackles (Rebel Vampires Volume
2)
The thing about anti-heroes? Their love is never
smooth. It’s unexpected. Unpredictable. But it’s fierce.
As Light would say: ‘it’s no namby-pamby
fairy-tale’. It’s real love. He’s a dark hero. But who else would you want to save
the world?
Blood Shackles is out now at the
promotional price of $0.99. Click here: http://amzn.to/2eIA33n

Hi Ally and thanks for having me on your blog! I hope everyone's having a good day! What do you love about anti-heroes? And as always, feel free to ask me anything...
ReplyDeleteThanks for hosting!
ReplyDeleteThanks Lisa - have a great day!
ReplyDeleteIf you could have played a part in a classic movie, which part would have been perfect for you and why?
ReplyDeleteGreat question! If I could become magically male - James Dean in A Rebel Without A Cause... I love that movie and it expresses the sense of being the individual - or struggling to be. I think at heart we all feel alone or the misfit - when in fact we all feel the same. Individual. The fight to be accepted for who we are - and to discover it - is central to what I write. And what I believe!
DeleteLooks very interesting. Congratulations Rosemary on the new release.
ReplyDeleteThanks Sandy! Hope you enjoy the series and have a great day!
DeleteA good antihero is always compelling!
