Paul Vincenzo stood at the bottom of the marble steps, gobsmacked.

Servers traipsed around him with trays laden with food.

Regally dressed women gave each other air kisses.

The woman he couldn’t stop staring at wore that green dress as if she were doing it a favor. She was short, thin, and had the creamiest skin he’d ever seen.

Jeeves, his butler, used gobsmacked.

For the first time, Paul understood the meaning. He felt his heart race, and he clenched his hands against sudden itching. What would her shiny, red hair feel like in his hands? When her lips kissed his, would they be expert?

Servers tempted him with mouthwatering appetizers.

Nothing would satisfy him until he knew her name.

While her shoe traveled down the steps, she held herself as if her shoe leaving her foot had been her plan, and she’d meant for her footwear to go first. Then the color rose on her cheeks.

Before he could react, her errant shoe was now back on her foot. Paul didn’t want to stop the interaction, but he had nothing to say.
