GENRE: Erotic Paranormal Romance
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
BLURB:
Denying
her love for her childhood friend, Jeff, Trinity visits her family’s ancestral
land, believing the Wild family magic has called her there to meet her
soulmate. Instead she finds danger at every turn, but she won’t have to face it
alone.
Jeff
has loved Trinity his whole life, but settled for friendship after she broke his
heart on prom night. Now this soldier turned firefighter faces the supernatural
to protect Trinity and convince her once and for all that they belong together.
EXCERPT ONE:
She
steered her car up the gravel driveway leading to the cabin. Her heart beat
faster and her stomach lurched. As usual, she felt him -- the familiar warmth
of her oldest friend -- as soon as she saw him.
“No,”
she murmured. “I don’t believe this!”
She
pulled her car next to Jeff, who stared at her from where he leaned against his
motorcycle, his long, denim-clad legs spread wide and his muscular arms folded
across his chest. His snug black T-shirt clung to his gorgeous,
broad-shouldered torso. A slight summer breeze toyed with thick sable hair that
hung almost to his shoulders. He’d just started growing a beard, so sexy dark
stubble outlined his angular face.
Damn
him. Why did he have to be so attractive? Would her destined mate look as good?
Not that it mattered. Personality and integrity counted more than looks, but
knowing that fueled her annoyance. Jeff was not only a fine physical specimen,
but loyal, courageous, and in his own rough way, a genuinely sweet guy.
Furious, she threw open the car door, stepped out, and slammed it behind her.
“What
the hell are you doing here?” She glared at him, tapping her foot on the
gravel. Her flip-flops probably made the motion more comical than intimidating,
but she didn’t care. She was too angry.
“Trin,
I’ll explain --”
“Damn
right you will. You’ve always known about the family magic. You know why I’m
here -- to meet my soulmate. Jeff, you cannot be here.”
GUEST POST:
Some of My Favorite Items in My Office
Welcome to my writing area. Enter at your own risk.
People
who know me probably know about my love of Halloween, horror movies, and the
macabre. They also know how much I love to read and write romance. My work area
might be strange to some, but maybe not so weird to those with similar taste.
My desk and bookshelves are black (my favorite color), and although there is a
window in the room, my desk doesn’t face it because when I’m writing, I try to
limit outside distractions. Pretty much all I need is a computer or notebook,
music to fit the mood of the story, and quiet.
During
breaks in writing, when I’m thinking about characters or working out a problem,
I do a lot of pacing. Sometimes I’ll look out the window, but often I write
late at night and the shades are drawn, so my workspace is filled with things
that inspire me and have sentimental value.
The
first and one of the oldest items is my lucky thesaurus. As you can see in the
picture, it probably doesn’t look very lucky. The book is well-used, over twenty
years old, and missing both the front and back covers (torn and taped beyond
help, so I finally tossed them). I refuse to toss the book, however. Nowadays I
use a digital thesaurus far more often, but this is my lucky one that I’ve had
practically since I started writing for publication.
The
next pictures are of two wall decorations. Both were gifts from my mother who
has always supported my writing goals. The wolf on wood was from a small shop
that we visited on a day out together. The second was a humorous Halloween
decoration she gave to me this past year and which I have added to the group of
Halloween decorations that I leave up all year round.
Speaking
of year-round Halloween decorations, here is a picture of the area directly to
the left of my computer. It includes several pieces in my skull collection, a
gargoyle hourglass, and a special edition of one of my favorite books, The
Scarlet Gospels by Clive Barker.
Spooky
things are in my comfort zone, but when I’m writing I need to keep a sense of
humor. This last picture is of four funny knickknacks I always have next to my
computer. A windup eyeball, a bassett hound figurine (I had a Bassett mix and
still miss her very much), a tiny stuffed beaver (a gift that was an inside
joke), and a brain-shaped stress toy.
I warned you to enter my
workspace at your own risk, but you made it this far, so thank you for sticking
with me! Do you have any strange or funny items around your workspace? Please
let me know in the comments.
