Karma

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
GENRE: Science Fiction,
Contemporary/Post-Apocalyptic
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
BLURB:
A
microscopic parasite has crippled humanity with night terrors and paralyzing
anxiety. In this world of increasing dystopia, hope yet remains in Karma City.
But when mercenary drifter, Jameson Shoals, learns that a famous scientist has
created a stronger parasite to kill the original, it isn’t until the bodies
litter the streets that he realizes the horrifying truth: the new parasite is a
killer with a mind of its own, and upon dominating Patient Zero, this killer
acquires legs, hands, and eyes. It falls upon Shoals and his partner, a deadly
female mercenary, to stop PZ and his mob before they can overcome and supplant
humankind.

EXCERPT THREE:
Though
the degradation in society perpetuated by the Malady parasite crippled
advancements in industry and commerce, coal mining prevailed in the mountains
and parts beyond Karma City, producing abundant fuel for steam engines and
thermal power plants. As a result, the railroad had become the people’s last
lifeline. Two 4-8-4 steam locomotives, antiquated yet reliable engines, wheeled
along cardinal tracks transporting people, medicine and goods back and forth
from Karma, Rime, Lobos and many other unnamed stops in the endless Void Lands.
The masters of these locomotives were the rifle-bearing men and women sworn to
a life on the
tracks—
the cold-hearted, Iron Tribe.

GUEST POST:
Hi!
It’s
a pleasure to be featured on Fabulous and Brunette! Thank you so much for
supporting my novel, Karma City. One of your interview topics caught my eye and
I decided that it would unique to share with your followers what sits atop my
desk. My first championship belt I ever held in the wild world of professional
wrestling–one half of the tag team titles for the Wrestling Federation of
America in New England, 2004. Yes, I am a professional wrestler! This aspect of
my life has helped me as an author in so many ways. Most importantly, it get’s
people interested in me; once they’re interested in me, they become interested
in what I write.
The
championship title belt atop my desk shines on me when I write. It is a
reminder that dreams do come true, but only if you believe in yourself and
you’re willing to work and grow. Being a professional wrestler was my first big
dream as a boy. It was all I loved and all I wanted. Though I’ve always had a
passion for writing, being in the ring was what I wanted first. And guess what
I learned about in pro-wrestling school? Story telling!
Professional
wrestling is story telling. It is a performance driven by colorful characters,
each with flaws and hopes. The matches are always a story of good versus evil
and the endings are always unpredictable. The heroes rise and fall. The battles
are won and lost. Always, the audience is captivated and taken away, left
wanting more.
Learning
to be a professional wrestler, a performer, helped build a foundation for my
career as a fiction writer that I feel makes me stronger than most writers.
Just as when I step into the ring, I strive to make the characters come alive
on the page by making them believable, relatable and most importantly,
sympathetic. The reader needs to feel emotionally connected to all the
characters, good guys and bad guys, to become fully immersed in the story.
I am
confident that readers of my new novel, Karma City, will be immediately pulled
in to the story. They’ll be turning pages and left wanting more.
Thank
you for hosting me on this blog. In closing I’d like to encourage everyone to
work hard while chasing their dreams; always believe and enjoy the journey. I
believe that goals and dreams always matter. Never give up on what you love.
