Proven Innocence by Mary J. Rocco - Book Tour - Blurb Blitz - Giveaway - Enter Daily!

Proven Innocence
by Mary J. Rocco

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
GENRE:   Suspense / Murder
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

BOOK BLURB:

Cynthia Evans wakes up in the trunk of a car, no idea how she got there, only to discover she’s wanted for the murder of her husband and children. With no memory of life prior, Cynthia is sure she did not commit the crime.

Only problem is-how does she convince anyone she’s not a murderer when she is not sure who she is?

With the help of a downtrodden diner waitress, Gabrielle, Cynthia fights to prove her innocence.

One thing is clear: Rick Evans is dead. But who is the real killer?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
EXCERPT TWO:
I am not in a coffin.
Why would they place a bleeding person in a coffin? A bleeding person would not be placed in a grave. That is way too quick of a turn¬around for a wake and funeral. I have not been buried alive.
Though not completely fresh, the blood is still somewhat moist and cannot be over a few hours old. It explains why my head pounds and my body aches, though it does not explain where all this discomfort originated.
Then, in the silence, I hear it—the pounding of gravel against the pavement. I am not moving a muscle in my body, yet I am still moving. The low hum of an engine resonates through my eardrums. I feel around and notice a tire drum underneath me.
I am in the trunk of a car.
How did I get here? Where am I headed? Who would do such a thing to me?
There is no indication where I am headed. All I can hear is the low humming of the motor. If I strain, I can hear the faint beat of the radio, unable to recognize any distinguishable words. The only audible sound is muffled voices and murmurs.
Is the driver alone, or does he have a passenger with him?
By the speed, I assume we are on a major interstate. We are traveling pretty fast, and the car is not making any sharp or sud¬den turns. The ride is smooth without a change in speed to stop for traffic lights or stop signs. It is a straight path along the high¬way with an occasional lane change.
I have no idea if the person driving knows I am locked in their trunk, though I have a sneaking suspicion he is the person who placed me here. All I can do is lie in wait for the final desti¬nation. I am helpless, too weak to do anything drastic. No way to release myself from this dark pit.
My eyes remain open, afraid to drift back asleep. Alertness is a necessity upon arrival at the destination. I must devise a plan for when he takes me out of the trunk.
Should I pretend to be dead and wait until he has me over his shoulders, then initiate a surprise attack?
A problem arises if the person driving never plans to take me out of the trunk at all.
What if the plan is to leave me here until I die a slow and awful death? What if he thinks I am already a dead, lifeless corpse? What if the driver gets out, letting the emergency brake go, watching from the side of the road as the car, with me locked in the trunk, rolls forward into the depths of the nearest lake?
I have dreamed of being an author since the age of ten. I have been writing and crafting stories for the last twenty years, mostly because, well you know, life… and I got in my own way. After finishing law school, graduate school, travelling the world, getting married and starting a family I figured now was the time.
I was born and raised on Long Island, New York and spent ten years in my early adulthood living carefree in New York City. I currently reside with my husband and two beautiful children in the western suburbs of Chicago, Illinois, where I am a practicing attorney.
I hope to continue to publish many more novels that entertain and thrill readers.
Journey to the Dark Galaxy by Hannah D. State - Book Tour - Book Blast - Giveaway - Enter Daily!
Journey to the Dark Galaxy
The Dark Galaxy Series
Book Two
by Hannah D. State
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

GENRE:  Science Fiction

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
BOOK BLURB:
A mysterious signal from deep space. Mischief and murder at a military base.
Earth’s leaders are given an ultimatum: deliver Sam Sanderson to Logom, a planet known to house a hostile AI civilization, or face interplanetary war.
When Sam receives a strange letter drafting her into the Great Alliance for Interplanetary Affairs as a matter of international security, she expects to get answers. But instead of receiving a warm welcome, she finds that most people under the surface are distant, cold, and have built walls of silence. While grappling with her unique power and the consequences of her actions, she learns that the organization she’s supposed to serve has a chilling past and guards a dark secret.
While Earth’s scientists scramble to defend their world and the planetary alliance from the AI threat, Sam is forced on a mission to the Dark Galaxy. A place where dangers lurk, tensions run high, and things are never what they seem.
But will the journey change her forever?
As Sam desperately navigates a maze of lies, dark secrets, and finds herself at the heart of a dangerous journey, she discovers that it will take much more than her courage and power to save humanity.
Time’s running out, and there’s no turning back now…
From the award-winning author of Journey to the Hopewell Star comes the highly anticipated sequel that’s sure to be a thrilling ride!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

EXCERPT ONE:

Sam Sanderson woke, her heart beating rapidly. A nightmare lingered—images of enemy alien ships, of giant, black, egg-shaped pods descending from the sky. And inside them, those menacing creatures. Like giant spherical jellyfish, a hybrid of AI machinery and organic flesh. Their mutating bodies, slick black bubbling masses. Those gleaming metallic barbed tentacles slicing through the air. They hovered on purple pockets of energy, racing to locate and destroy their victims…

She rubbed her eyes, trying to erase the frightening images. Dense grogginess and a pounding headache put her on edge—a raw, pulsating ache that only intensified as she took in her strange surroundings.

This wasn’t home. At least, it wasn’t her home on Maple River Drive in Moncton, New Brunswick, with her grandfather. And this wasn’t her comfortable bed. This confining, gloomy room with drab white walls was definitely not her residence quarters at the military base, either. So where was she?

She bolted upright. A bed, a sink, and a toilet. No windows. Where there should have been a door, instead were thick, impenetrable iron bars.

She gulped, her mouth dry. She pulled her blanket closer, the damp coldness of the air threatening to seep into her bones.

Her mouth gaped open in sudden awful awareness. This was no nightmare.

They’d captured her.

Whichever Way The Road Leads by J. A. Boulet - Book Tour - Guest Post - Giveaway - Enter Daily!

Whichever Way the Road Leads
The Eastman Saga
Book One
by J. A. Boulet

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
GENRE:  Historical Romance
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

BOOK BLURB:

Meet Jesse Eastman, a young man from a powerful and wealthy American family. When he joins a group of rough fur traders on a journey to open up the American Northwestern Frontier, Jesse thinks his days are numbered.

The looming War of 1812 and a rugged farm woman from Upper Canada may prove him right.

Zee Collard and her father, George, are half-American, and half-Canadian. They will stop at nothing to protect their livelihoods in Upper Canada. The Collard's family history goes back to the Revolutionary War and their past is not something many Americans are keen on.

Whichever Way The Road Leads will pull you into the lives of two American families on both sides of the border who struggle as war breaks out in 1812. This engaging and graphic first book of The Eastman Saga will take you through raging mountainous rivers and early Northwestern Frontier landscapes to the bloody Niagara battlefields of 1812.

Be careful which road you take, you never know where it'll lead.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
EXCERPT ONE:
Jesse Eastman cradled his head in his calloused hands and wondered when he had lost his mind. He thought back to several incidents and still could not accurately pinpoint what had prompted him to make the ridiculous decision to risk his life with the Overland Astorian explorers. However, one event was obvious. The argument with his father two years ago had changed his life, for better or for worse. Jesse had never fully recovered from the sting of being thrown out of the Eastman family.
He looked up as his friend threw another log on the fire. Samuel was a tall, gangly fellow he had met last year in St. Louis when the Astorians were adding men to the team. Samuel was as close to a best friend as he’d ever met.
“Still wondering how crazy you are to be here, boy?” Samuel chuckled as the Mad River  sloshed menacingly behind their backs. Samuel spit and kicked a stray log with his dirty boot into the camp fire. His long hair was firmly slicked back from his forehead, and the stray ends wisped onto his shoulders with every movement.
“Yes,” replied Jesse. “I’m wondering when I’m going to die, too.” Jesse wiped his grimy hands on his pants. The Mad River was so loud it almost drowned out the conversation at times. Jesse shouted towards the river. “How the hell are we going to ride those rapids tomorrow?”
Samuel grimaced and spat again. “With difficulty,” he responded manically.
Jesse laid down on his cot and gazed up at the night skies, feeling a shiver run through his spine.
It would be September 30, 1811 tomorrow, and Jesse imagined this was the date that would appear on his young gravestone. That is, if anyone ever found his body.
GUEST POST:
Five Reasons You Should Read My Book
A fun way to introduce you to my book! Here are five reasons why you should read my book:
1.) You will learn something! This is the comment that I get the most in my book reviews. I research the historical events in my books so thoroughly that it allows readers to learn about the events while enjoying the story. You won’t even realize that you learned so much about history!
2.) My book, Whichever Way The Road Leads, will take you away to a different kind of romance. In the 1800s, people didn’t meet over coffee and the internet. They met randomly and in dire circumstances sometimes. That’s all I can say without revealing the plot!
3.) You will have a book that you will feel compelled to share with others! You will talk endlessly about the Northwestern Frontier, Jesse Eastman, Zee Collard, and the War of 1812!
4.) You will fall in love with the 1800s! The details and ways of life in this book will capture your heart.
5.) This book will be so entertaining that you’ll want more. If you enjoyed the Yellowstone series, you’ll love this book and be waiting for the next one. Bk 2 of The Eastman Saga (1830s America) will be released in 2025. Hopefully one day, it will be made into a series similar to Yellowstone and you can say you were one of the first people to read it!
Thank you so much for following along on my book tour for Whichever Way The Road Leads! This is the last stop on my interview/guest post blog tour. I hope everyone enjoys Whichever Way The Road Leads and I greatly appreciate every single reader! Reviews are so important for authors. So, remember, if you read a book, review it! Love ya all and enjoy!
The Path of Revenge by Tom Haward - Book Tour - Guest Post - Giveaway - Enter Daily!
The Path of Revenge
The Path of Chaos Series
Book Two
by Tom Haward
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

GENRE:   Historical Fiction / Alternative History

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
BOOK BLURB:
The rebellion is in hiding. It has been a year since Boatman King attempted to overthrow the Empire, but instead had to escape London with his wife and their closest allies.
Not all of Boatman King’s allies are in hiding. Maverick “The Beast” Kirabo is on a mission to finish what he started on the streets of London. The former gladiator has a score to settle and revenge to unleash: Rome will fear him as they once adored him.
Despite its failure, Boatman King’s rebellion has spread disquiet in Rome’s political circles. Grand Protector Faust dispatches a pair of hunters to search the country and bring Boatman and his followers back to London for reckoning. Although Faust is the official face of Rome’s leadership, Emperor Maximus is thirsty to stamp his mark on the world and step out from his dead father’s shadow.
Unbeknownst to Faust and Maximus, a terrifying presence is watching the unrest and relishing in the vulnerabilities it’s causing.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

EXCERPT ONE:

Maximus called for the nurse. Well, called was a rather generous word for the animalistic noise that his mouth emitted. Ever since his head had been caved in by a hammer, he wasn’t able to vocalise much that made any sense. In his head, though, in his head, everything made sense and the words that bounced around his brain were as clear as the hatred that bubbled in his gut. The hatred was centred on Maverick Kirabo, the man who had wielded the hammer that had left a permanent dent in Maximus’s skull.

It had been eleven months since Max had one minute been enjoying crucifying Olivia King, feeling the butterflies in his belly as he smashed nails through her wrists, and the next minute waking up in this gods-forsaken room, fluorescent lights causing splinters of pain in his skull and tubes sprouting from his body like a plastic porcupine.

Maximus made a guttural noise again to try and get the nurse’s attention. Eventually she appeared; she tried to conceal a look of disgust, but she was either a poor actor or disinterested in trying. Maximus had assumed his face was a picture of horror from his injuries, which it was, but the nurse’s disgust didn’t come from the patient’s wounds but from the patient’s personality.

Maximus Nero was infamous for his sadism. He made no secret of the pleasure he derived from other people’s pain. It was that pleasure that had motivated him to travel to Britannia to track down Olivia King.

GUEST POST:

Putting Yourself on a Page: What It’s Like to Share Your Most Personal Words with the World

I think writing anything is deeply personal, regardless of the genre. When sharing what your imagination creates, there’s a sense of bravery in giving another person access to that. I also think there’s a vulnerability to being a writer because I know I regularly have imposter’s syndrome and think I’ll get caught out and exposed for being a poor writer.

I used to write a lot of content related to my mental health struggles and the journey I went on through extreme darkness, to healing. It was very personal and very difficult to read, but the honesty meant I never worried about what people thought of the writing. It was almost ironic in being so honest that it almost made me not worried about criticism.

When it comes to writing fiction though, it sometimes feels like it’s much more personal. Crafting characters you want to feel authentic can be very difficult and therefore when people meet these characters, there’s a nervousness about how people will respond to the characters. Also, as a writer, you have an expectation of how you would like the reader to respond to characters and situations so it’s interesting to find out when readers have a very different response. But that’s the beauty of books; they’re so subjective it’s fascinating how your work is interpreted.

The most significant part to sharing my words with the world is the joy of doing it. Even though it’s scary, it’s an honour to have the opportunity to breathe into life what my imagination has been creating, and humbling with each and every page that is read by someone.

I would say that anyone aiming to be a published writer is to embrace the fear about what people might think, as it’s part of being a creative.
