Catch a Cowboy by Rachelle Paige Campbell - Book Tour - Blurb Blitz - Giveaway - Enter Daily!

Catch a Cowboy
by Rachelle Paige Campbell

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
GENRE:   Sweet Contemporary Western Romance
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

BOOK BLURB:

Kincaid Ranch’s lead cowboy, Ted Stirling, isn’t looking for romance or entanglements. He settled in Herd, Montana over a decade ago after a devastating loss. He’s seeking comfort and friendship. Nothing more. If he was going to try for love again, he would pick someone sweet and sunny, exactly like kindergarten teacher, Stephanie Patricks. But she’s too young for him.

Stephanie has nursed a crush on quiet, handsome Ted for years. Unfortunately, every time she’s around him, she gets tongue-tied. She only seems to be able to find her words when she’s working with her students. When Ted’s sister unexpectedly arrives in town with his five-year-old niece in tow, he needs help, and Stephanie is just the woman to provide it.

A sudden emergency puts into sharp focus exactly how fragile life is, and Ted needs to decide whether to open his heart again, or let love slip away forever.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
EXCERPT ONE:
Ted didn’t land on the ground with his usual grace. His jeans snagged on the top rail and his back foot caught. His palms scrapped against the rail. He fell in a heap on the ground.
Tires squealed as the car stopped on the shoulder.
“Ted? Are you okay?” Stephanie shouted.
He winced and sat up, easing his legs out in front of him. Testing his muscles, he’d ache in the morning but hadn’t twisted his major leg joints. He waved a hand. “Yeah, I’m fine.”
“No, you’re bleeding. Hold on,” she called.
He sucked in a breath and flipped over his palms. She was right. He’d torn through the top layer of skin and bled in several sections. The wounds didn’t look deep enough for stitches but he’d have to keep bandages on and use his work gloves for a few days. He should have worn the gloves before he’d hopped the fence, but he’d been so sure of his abilities his ego led to his fall.
“May I see?” Stephanie asked in a soft voice.
He met her concerned gaze and swallowed the lump in his throat. With her knees pressing into the ground, she was close. Almost as near as last night when she’d kissed him.
His cheek burned from the memory of the tender press of her lips. Would she kiss his palms? He didn’t think that would make him all better but he wasn’t about to stop her from trying.
“May I?” she asked again.
Hold on Tight
by Jerry Harwood
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

GENRE:  Sweet Romance

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
BOOK BLURB:
When event planner Megan Rouche's boyfriend lands a job in Atlanta, he proposes. But she chooses to stay in her small Tennessee town to care for her grandmother. There she kindles a new relationship. However, all is in jeopardy when Frank returns on behalf of his Atlanta company with big plans to develop a new factory in Bakewell and marry Megan.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

EXCERPT ONE:

As Megan slammed the driver-side door, she realized only too late the end of her long, flowing scarf remained inside. She felt her shoulders and neck revolt against the rest of her body. The color-coded, highlighted, and well-organized wedding binder did not have the same attachment to the car door as her scarf. It went forward, scattering over the parking lot. The wedding schedule, names of family members and important friends, the order for the toasts, and the marriage certificate took flight.

Megan reached out in an attempt to pull the folder and the last ten seconds of her life back in. As she did, gravity won out. She hit her back against the car door and slumped to the ground. Frantically, she unwrapped the knitted noose from her neck. As she stood, the wind caught the loose papers. At first, they were aflutter near her feet. Then the wind, perhaps realizing how it might continue to torment her, sent a stronger gust.

Megan eyed the envelope with the marriage certificate. It was tenuously holding its flight pattern over a puddle. She lurched forward, far from gracefully, toward the envelope. Her fingers touched the edge before the wind chose to take it a bit farther down the pea gravel parking lot. The marriage certificate danced over the neighboring spaces before landing against the sidewalk’s curb. From there, it caught an upward draft straight into the holly bushes with the reception song list.

Megan removed the scarf and moved toward the holly bush. She heard the snap of her left shoe’s heel. Her reward was a skinned knee and another trip to the gravel lot. Her new circular-frame eyeglasses decided they would abandon ship and bounced a few feet away. Megan sat on her bottom, feeling the ground’s moisture creep up her skirt. She raised her hands before patting the ground around her. A deluge of tears threatened to explode from her eyes as she strained to keep them at bay.

MY BOOK REVIEW:

Wow!!  I absolutely loved this book!!  "Hold on Tight," is the perfect balance of a swept away sweet romance read with a HEA Hallmark movie feel, and with realistic characters and believable story lines!!

This book, “Hold on Tight,” is a fun, sweet, charming, heartfelt, romantic read filled with charismatic characters, real-life story lines, and amusing plot points!!

Hold on Tight,” is a quickly captivating read as I found myself unable to put this book down nor did I want to!!  Before I knew it, I was already on the last chapter, and up way past my bedtime lol.

I really liked main characters Megan and Drew.  I instantly connected with Megan as she was easy to relate to and I felt a kinship with her. Plus, as someone who also left the big city life to move to a small town to take care of a sick family member, and as someone just as klutzy (if not more lol!!) I couldn’t help but identify with her.  I think Megan’s character and story will also click with many readers.  It was not hard to find fault in Frank (Megan’s boyfriend at the beginning of the book) as his character leaves a sour taste in one’s mouth after just the first chapter.  While I understand finding someone in a small town can be quite difficult, Frank’s self-centered, self-absorbed, inconsiderate, narcissistic behavior and attitude leaves a lot to be desired.  Drew was quite charming, handsome, considerate, confident, caring, and thoughtful.  I really liked Megan and Drew as a couple and enjoyed watching their relationship develop over the course of the book.  I also want to mention Megan’s friends, Vanessa and Kendall.  These two supporting characters added depth, humor, and value to the story.

I loved the deep-rooted inspiring and uplifting themes around Megan’s tattoo which acted as her talisman, providing her with strength, comfort, focus, and drive.  Megan reveals that her wrist tattoo is of a compass and her mother’s words, “Hold on Tight,” a mantra that helps her get through the tough times.

I also really enjoyed the author’s authentic voice and detailed writing style.  Harwood’s unique ability to thoroughly describe scenes with realistic themes and relatable characters allows the reader to stay fully immersed in the story.

This book is a fast read, comprised of thirty-six short chapters spanning across 214 eBook pages.

Currently it seems this book is not part of a book series.  Therefore, this book can easily be read as a standalone.

For readers that like neat and tidy endings, this book’s HEA is tied up with a bow and is sure to leave readers completely satisfied.

All in all, I really enjoyed reading this book and would absolutely recommend it!!  I think all sweet romance readers – especially Hallmark HEA movie fans will be sure to like this book too!!  So, add it to your TBR List and get to reading – you won’t be disappointed!!

Sweetwater Promise

by January Bain

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
GENRE: Sweet Romance
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

BLURB:

Follow your heart to Sweetwater

Daisey Winslow loves her small town of Sweetwater, but wonders how she’d fare living and working in a big city. Just as she’s decided to take a job in New York, along comes Deputy Sheriff Jack Samson.

Her polar opposite, Jack left the mean streets to return to Sweetwater’s peace and quiet, ready to find that special someone and raise a family, and the more time Daisey spends with him, the calmer her itchy feet get and the duller the big-city lights shine.

When she comes across the diary of her seven-times-great grandmother, reading her poignant words with the simple message, follow your heart, make Daisey question her decisions.

But Daisey’s not quite ready to give up on her dreams before she’s even started living them, however…what if the dashing lawman can fill her head—and her heart—with different, closer-to-home desires? Ones they can share?

Readers of Jenny Hale, Carolyn Brown, and Susan Mallery will love this fun, flirty, poignant, and feel-good small-town romance.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
EXCERPT THREE:
Rose gave a sigh of pleasure. “Ah, that’s our new deputy sheriff, Jack Samson. Just arrived yesterday. Don’t you love a handsome lawman in a fancy hat?”
“Yeah.” I forced myself to turn away from the mouth-watering, outstanding view and focus on Cousin Rose. “Spill.”
She’s always in the loop. Everyone came to the Prairie Rose Café, thanks to the welcoming smile and warm greeting of the proprietor. Her food—the best in North Dakota. Her chicken and dumplings are amazing, and don’t get me started on her world-famous cinnamon apple raisin pie. My only defense against being as wide as I am tall is running. Though I do have an admirable petite shape, sort of Jessica Rabbitesque in the right light.
“He’s single and worked for the NYPD. Can you believe it?” Rose shook her head with feigned surprise. “And he chose to come back to Sweetwater. Fancy that, eh?” She gave me a smug smile like she’d just placed her Ace of Hearts on a winning poker hand.
“Huh. Very odd choice.” I wouldn’t let her trump it. “Samson. Old family name. He related to any of them?”
Rose nodded. “Yup. All of them. Came over on the Mayflower, like us. His parents moved to New York when he was five or six, so he wasn’t with us long and it was before either of us were born.”
Deputy Sheriff Samson not only wears a hat well, he’s one of our own. I can only hope he’s prepared to share all that big city expertise.
The deputy had stopped and was helping Tim, who was struggling with the oversized banner. Even from across the street it was obvious that Jack Samson was in prime condition. Made me want to head to the gym for a complete workout. I’m a bit too much of a fan of Rose’s apple pie and my personal favorite, rum-soaked-raisin oatmeal cookies. I’d already packed a few dozen for the wagon train trip. No point in taking chances.
“He’s a bit old for you,” Rose pointed out, arching a well-groomed brow at me. “Mid-thirties, I think. The scuttlebutt is he’s come home to Sweetwater to settle down with no intention of leaving. Unlike you.”
More movement out of the picture window caught my attention. A familiar black and white cat shot out of the narrow gap between the Barnes & Sons Hardware and Alice’s Flower Shoppe. Five-year-old Luke Barnes bounded out next, short legs pumping, his blond hair standing straight on end in the newest rage. Knowing both ends of Main Street were already blocked off to traffic due to the Ferris wheel perched at one end and the music stage on the other kept my heart rate from accelerating. Besides, Luke was always trying to corral Bandit, the aptly named one-year-old feline who was forever on the lam.
The new guy let go of his end of the banner he’d been helping Tim with and it slumped to the street in a colorful heap. He jumped to the little boy’s aid, dashing after the runaway feline and nabbing the tiny creature in a few broad steps. Then he leaned down and handed over the squirming furry body to the young boy, making sure Luke had a good grip on his constant buddy before letting go. Hmm. Good reflexes too. Didn’t even lose his awesome hat in the proceedings.
The deputy patted the boy on the head, then headed back and finished helping Tim secure the banner. Paragraph two: A diner at the Prairie Rose Café witnessed an incident in the street this fine July morning and reports the newly arrived Deputy Sheriff Samson rescued Luke Barnes’s cat, Bandit. Little does he know that it’s a daily occurrence and he’d best invest in a ladder forthwith.
If I was a romance author, oh my, what I couldn’t do with the new hero. I laid my hand over my heart, imagining the juicy adjectives I could so easily spill out onto the page. Triple sigh. Words like dashing, scintillating, powerful, alpha…
The Nanny Song
by Misty Mount
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

GENRE: Sweet Romance

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
BLURB:
A dismal pall hangs over the Colt residence. Since the death of his wife, Brendan Colt has struggled to care for his children, Kason and Meela. Each is lost in their own deep grief, but there is more to this family than meets the eye.
After her tumultuous childhood, Mallory Riscoe has deftly avoided change. But her life is due for an upheaval when she’s fired from her sales associate position and takes on the role of nanny in the Colt household.
Mallory soon realizes she might have taken on more than she can handle when she finds more than two mischievous children haunting the grand, creaky house. If it isn’t the children’s brash uncle or schoolyard bullies, she finds herself confronted with strange sounds coming from the attic and suspicious late-night behavior from Brendan Colt himself.
It’s only when Mallory begins to feel a connection between not just herself and the children but their father too, that an unspeakable secret is uncovered. Is this new bond—and possibly Mallory's life itself—now at risk?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

EXCERPT ONE:

Brendan kept driving to the point that Mallory began to think he was leaving the city. Ghastly ideas were bouncing around inside her head as she was trying to figure out where Brendan could be heading. Did he know she was following him? Was he leading her away anyhow, just to see how far she would go? She had very nearly come to the worst conclusion possible when the Lincoln finally turned off onto a side street and parked alongside the curb…

She watched him walk across a dark lawn without so much as a glance to either side. He kept walking until his figure blended in with the night…

She knew she was being reckless and prayed no one would see her as she slipped out of the car and made her way through the shadows to the spot where she had watched Brendan disappear…

Her eyes were adjusting to the dark now, and with the moon up above she could clearly make out a tall iron fence, its gates standing open at the end of the path. Behind the enclosure were headstones of all sizes and shapes, some gleaming in the hazy luminescence, some dull and indistinct. Mallory hadn’t even realized she was at a graveyard before then, and she got a funny feeling in her gut when she finally became aware of the eerie setting.

A chilly breeze had picked up and it whispered all around her…

GUEST POST:

The Case of the Teen and Her Tanked Opportunity

I was first published in my very early teens, and honestly, it was a bit traumatic. I got to be on the local news and in the local paper. I had book signings at Borders and Barnes and Noble. I even had the privilege of speaking to other kids about the importance of reading and sharing writer’s tips at library events. I was on cloud nine . . . or at least I should have been, right?

In truth, I was a nervous wreck. What had once been fun (writing in the privacy of my own room for an audience of me and me alone) was now a stomach-churning anxiety fest. I was an insecure fourteen-year-old introvert with a fear of anything that involved a group setting. (And by group, I actually mean anything more than one other person.) Only slightly larger than my fear of public speaking and appearances were my fear of saying no and being a giant disappointment.

I started worrying too much over how my writing was being received or what people thought about it instead of enjoying the process. I was too young and sensitive to handle negative reviews, which resulted in me ghosting and refusing to show anyone my writing for over a decade afterward.

Instead of launching my writing career off the back of that initial momentum, I hid every word I so much as jotted down for years to come. And it turns out, that’s just what I needed.

As an adult, I’m still sensitive and terrified that someone might actually be reading this or anything else I’ve written, but I’ve also learned to write for myself and have fun doing what makes me happy. Any readers I happen to please along the way are a sweet bonus!

The Christmas Makeover by Susan Lute - Blurb Blitz - Giveaway - Enter Daily!

The Christmas Makeover

by Susan Lute

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
GENRE: Sweet, Small Town Romance
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

BLURB:

He’s ready for the lights…

Baker Grant Reed loves discovering new Christmas recipes, making people smile, and Angel Point—not necessarily in that order. But when his editor turns down his proposal for a Christmas cookbook, he must show her how serious he is about becoming the premier pastry chef in the country. He turns to his best friend, Faith—if anyone can give him a complete makeover that will turn heads, she can.

She knows how to make things sparkle…

In her past, Faith Hathaway was a costume designer for some of Broadway’s most prestigious plays. Now, after moving to Angel Point to help her grandfather, she owns and operates a vintage boutique and helps out at the local theater. When Grant asks for a makeover, she’s torn—she loves him the way he is, mismatched socks and all.

In exchange, he promises to show Faith, who has never enjoyed the holiday season, the magic of an Angel Point Christmas. But as the two grow closer, Grant can’t help but wonder…has he got his Christmas wish all wrong?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
EXCERPT TWO:
“Don't wait too long to decorate. The mayor is having a Christmas window display contest. The winner will get an angel trophy. Wouldn't it be great if we were the first winner to display the trophy for the whole year?”
Boxes of decorations in the storeroom were stacked as high as the ceiling. All Faith could see was her granddad falling off a ladder and breaking his leg again. “I'll get it done. I promise.”
“I'm sure Grant will help. That boy loves Christmas,” Esther said with a sweet smile before following Stuart out of the shop.
Faith rolled her eyes. This wasn't the first time Esther had made up an excuse to throw her and Grant together. It probably wouldn't be the last, either, which should have bothered her but didn't. What was a teeny-tiny crush between friends, anyway? Still—
“Maybe that's not a bad idea,” she said to the now-empty store. Grant was decent, kind, and responsible. Look at how he took care of his grandma, though Faith was pretty sure Esther would protest loudly if she had an inkling of his subtle oversight.
And if there was a moment here and there when Faith wondered what it would be like to have his complete, undivided attention, no woman worth her salt would blame her for the tiny tremors that made her heart unstable whenever he tempted her with one of his experimental pastries.
Grant, with his neon shirts and mismatched socks made sense to her. If they weren't such good friends, she'd fall for him in a hot New York minute.
