My friends, my sister, and I must find a way to stop this force before they reunite the two parallel universes, which will be total destruction.

C'est pourquoi mes amis, ma soeur et moi devons arrêter le roi Zefron avant qu'il ne réunisse les deux univers parallèles, ce qui serait une destruction totale.

Book 2:

The future is never a straight path.

Hey, my name is Alia. In this story my friends, my sister and I find out that we cannot destroy Lord Zefron because of his mechanism. We also find out the exact date that the parallel universe will merge. We later make it to Bartha's place. She has a solution to how we can stop the universes from reuniting. But with every good thing comes a price to pay. We collect a load of items to prepare ourselves for this mission. So, we need once again to find a way to save the galaxy before the total destruction caused by the parallel universes.

On a aussi découvert la date exacte à laquelle les deux univers parallèles vont se réunir. Quand nous sommes arrivés au château de Bartha, Bartha avait une solution comment empêcher les deux univers parallèles de se réunir. Mais pour toute bonne chose il ya un prix à payer. Nous avons donc collectionné beaucoup d'objects pour préparer à cette mission. Une fois de plus mes amies, ma soeur et moi doivent trouver un moyen de sauver la galaxie avant que les univers parallèles causent une destruction totale.

Friends get possessed, new worlds are unlocked, hidden mysteries are discovered, and, worst of all, our friends, the world and realms are all in danger, 'cause in this volume the nightmare begins!

The Story of How It All Began

Alaura — Wow, where is this place?

Elesore: this is the kingdom of Aliese. Welcome.

Alaura and Reven: Wooooooooooooooooooow! Reven — This is like a dream but real, and wait, how are we still alive? We’re in space with no air! We could die any second.

Elesore — Aliese has its own air source, but only those who receive its magical essence can stay alive.

Alaura — Wait, so we have magical essences?

Elesore: Yes, Alaura. The princess has been waiting and searching for you ever since.

Alaura — What do you mean? I don’t even know her.

Elesore — Are you sure about that?

Reven (whispers) — Hey, Alaura, this is a really big change. An hour ago we were regular high school students, and now we have, umm, made-up magical powers or something.

Elesore — You know I can hear you, right?

Reven — Wait, how?

Elesore — You whisper really loudly and my magic allows me to, umm, hear your vibrations and voices.

Alaura — Cool, so what power do I have?

Where Do You Find Inspiration?

The MAIN place I find inspiration is through my dreams. Dreams for me are the best way to get a feel of what the story would be about. Through dreams, you can see the unimaginable, the wonder that you would never see in reality. For example, in one of my dreams, I saw how "Alaura"(A character in the "A link between two worlds / Un lien entre deux mondes book series") would look like, as well as the planet "Aliese", "Briarwood city"(etc). In conclusion, dreams give you the possibility to see exactly how the story will play out.

AUTHOR BIO:

I am an eleven-year-old girl from Ontario, Canada. I speak both French and English. At the age of 11 I wrote my first book in a series called A Link Between Two Worlds. I like gymnastics, dancing, singing, swimming and drawing characters. I also love writing fantasy stories. One day I decided to write a story about a magic galaxy, friendship, hope, courage and fantasy.

Je suis une fille de 11 ans. Je viens de l'Ontario, Canada. Je parle le français et l'anglais. À l'âge de 11 ans, j'ai écrit le premier tome de la série Un lien entre deux mondes. J'adore chanter, nager et faire de la gymnastique. J'aime aussi dessiner des personnages et raconter des histoires originales et amusantes. Un jour, j'ai décidé d'écrire une histoire sur une galaxie où se mêlent magie, amitié, courage et de la fantaisie.

EXCERPT ONE:

Kean shuddered. Reaching under the wire fence, he grabbed the bottle. The sleeve of his faded green T-shirt snagged on the end of a wire just as a feeling of being watched quivered down the back of his neck. He jerked the sleeve free, tearing a small hole in the fabric, and looked back over the neighbor’s yard. No one was watching, but he had an urge to get out of there – fast!

Before he noticed the strange contents of the bottle, a man’s voice called out. “What do you kids have there?”

Kean froze.

MY BOOK REVIEW:

This book took me on a fun, exciting ghost story adventure!!

I am all about the mysteries, so I was eager to go on this excursion with Kean, Calvin, and Sam!!

This book brought many smiles, LOL’s, and thrilling, anticipation to find out what happens next!!

I was also so excited to read this book with the Halloween season just around the corner as it was the perfect fall read!!

When I read the blurb for this book, I couldn’t believe how much this story line reminded me of one of my summer vacation’s as a kid – minus the ghost part lol!!

Like Kean, the main character, my mother had recently remarried so I chose to spend part of my summer vacay with family instead. While Kean chose to stay with his aunt and younger cousin in Walhachin; I went to stay with my grandparents in The Dalles, Oregon. Like Walhachin, it’s one of the smaller towns in the state and mostly home to a retired residential community. My grandmother, a nurse at the Veteran’s Home was unable to get the time off from work though so she enrolled me in a day camp at church. It was supposed to be for all ages, but at 13, I was the oldest child there. All the other “campers” were much younger, and our daily schedule included activities like arts and crafts, snack time, and even nap time. Yep – I was back in day care lol!! Also, like Kean, I was definitely regretting my decision to visit and wished I had just stayed home. It was a really long two weeks and a ghost encounter would have been much more fun lol!!!

Even though this book does have a ghost theme with a main character in the story being a ghost, this is not a scary, spooky, eerie tale. Think more like Casper! A lighthearted, friendly, fun, adventure that takes these kids through the exciting and intriguing town of Walhachin in the present – and the past!!

I really liked the main characters, Kean and Calvin. They were very likable, genuine, and relatable. I think many kids will click with Kean and build a relationship with him over the course of the book. Even as an older reader, I was able to easily connect with Kean as I reflected back on my past summer vacations spent with my grandparents during my tween years. I also enjoyed Sam, the ghost, and his interactions with the boys.

I really liked the friendship theme that is not only fun and entertaining it also provides an important and invaluable teaching for young readers. Friendships are an essential part of life and kids can find strength, growth, development, and security in friends. This story line played an integral part of this book’s success.

I really enjoyed the historical content that was lightly and skillfully added in.

I also really liked the beautifully and artistically created illustrations that really brought the story to life! It was an enjoyable addition and provided extra insight and details into the story, characters, and setting.

I liked that this book was a quick, effortless read with only 22 short chapters and 168 eBook pages. I honestly believe this book would also be easy to read and follow along for even the average middle grader.

This book also seems to offer the young reader excellent literacy and developmental skills to help build on and progress through the five stages of reading development. Furthermore, this book would be a great addition to a student’s summer reading list or school reading list!!

Although I am much older than the middle grade age group that this book is targeted for; I still thoroughly enjoyed it and would suggest readers of all ages would also be captively entertained!! Perhaps, they as well, have a similar story of Kean and I to reflect back on and maybe even found their own adventure too!!

There are some predictable scenes. However, there are still a few very unexpected twists and turns that you won't see coming!

Currently, this book is not listed as part of a book series. This book can be read as a standalone.

All in all, I really enjoyed reading this book and would absolutely recommend it! I think all juvenile fiction readers, middle grade readers, historical fans, and ghost story fans will like this book too! And, like I previously said I think many other readers of all ages would enjoy this book too! So, add it to your TBR List and get to reading - you won't be disappointed!

Ramona Nehring-Silver's memories of living in and around Walhachin as a child and exploring the surroundings with seven siblings provided the initial inspirations for The Ghost of Walhachin. Ongoing motivation, and sometimes interruptions, came from her four children and thirteen grandchildren. She now lives in the far northeast corner of British Columbia, where her teaching career has ranged from adult art and writing classes to elementary school. Exploring B.C. and beyond by motorcycle is her favorite thing to do, as well as spending time with her grandchildren.

Smoke and chemicals mixed, and strange sounds came from the now empty lab. Sounds like… gurgling and burping? The door of the lab smashed open and out came…

… a small, roundish shape! It was midnight black and had the size and form of an upside-down cereal bowl. It slithered instead of rolled. It looked like melted dark chocolate but had a perfume like smell.

Suddenly, two roundish holes opened and turned pale blue. It had eyes! It could see! What in the world could this creature be?

Why… it’s Bartholomew Blob!

I am thrilled to be a guest here on Fabulous and Brunette, as I am in fact both fabulous and a brunette, so I feel right at home here!

And isn’t that what we’re all searching for really? To feel at home, especially in this environment. My book It came from the SCIENCE LAB!!! is about just that; Bartholomew Blob is searching for a home, somewhere he can feel safe and just be himself. It is a warm and fuzzy tale for children (and adults – no judgement!), so here are five reasons why you and your children will love it.

1.) It’s about feelings and recognizing that the way we feel can change within minutes: and that’s okay! By using colours to emit different moods, young children can easily relate to and understand Bartholomew.

2.) It’s about inclusivity. We are all different. We all have our quirks and idiosyncrasies that make us who we are. But we all have one thing in common: we’re all searching for love and friendship and acceptance for who we are.

3.) During the pandemic I used my spare time to clean up our basement and re-discovered my old story notes on Bartholomew. I’ve always been confident in who I am; but as an adolescent, kids aren’t always the most accepting of those of us who march to the beat of our own drum. When I found my story notes, I realized that Bartholomew could help so many other kids out there to just simply be themselves.

4.) The illustrations are works of art on every page. Illustrator Lan Nguyen is extremely talented and her beautiful, soulful and colourful drawings brought the story to life in the most exquisite way.

5.) All proceeds of this book will be going to STEM charities. As a professional engineer myself it is very important to me that the young women of tomorrow embrace their talents and strength in the sciences and are supported in order to pursue their dreams.
