“You always run alone?”

She pointed to a nearby jogger. “I’m not alone.”

“But you’re not with anyone.”

Standing this close to him, she wished for things she shouldn’t. “No, I’m not.”

“How far are you going?”

“The end of the trail and back.” Or however long it took to get him out of her mind.

He put his helmet on. “Come on, I’ll keep you company.”

“It’s not necessary.” Clearing her mind would be impossible with him next to her.

“It’s safer this way.” He looked down the trail.

His desire to protect her sent warmth curling up and down her spine. It had been a long time since anyone was concerned about her. All of a sudden, the idea of company appealed to her. Touching his arm— and trying not to squeeze his bicep like you would if you tested the ripeness of a peach—she waited for him to turn. “You’re welcome to join me if you want. If you can keep up.” She winked and raced away, his bark of laughter a brief punch in the silence behind her.

She no longer kept an easy pace, easing into the morning. This time, she sprinted hard. The slight whir of his bike wheels warned her as he reached her a few moments later.

“You’re pretty fast, but I’d suggest you slow down.”

She turned toward him. “Out of pity for you?”

His lips twitched, and his nostrils flared, but he kept his humor reined tight. Instead, he cycled next to her, his head turned slightly toward her. “The only pity I ask for is please don’t make me carry you home when you’re too tired to continue.”

MY BOOK REVIEW:

This book is such an incredible, inspiring, engaging, and extremely captivating read!!! I could not put it down, nor did I want to!!!

This is the fourth book I’ve read from the incredible writer, Jennifer Wilck. I have thoroughly enjoyed her books and this one was no exception!!

This book follows the story of Abby, a smart, caring, independent, self-sufficient, techno-savvy computer security expert and programmer who has recently landed her dream job at one of the world's top premier IT security firms, Endicott Security Company. This book actually starts out with Abby’s final job interview with Ted Endicott, the CEO of Endicott.

This book also follows Abby’s new boss, Ted. Ted is intelligent, handsome, distinguished, quiet, reserved, sensitive, and occasionally a tad bit on the grumpy, touchy side lol. Ted also suffers from significant hearing loss and while he does wear hearing aids (some of the time) he is still very subconscious about them and his condition. He admits that although he has personally accepted his ailment, he still feels embarrassed, awkward, and uncomfortable, and refers to his disability as a disadvantage.

This book takes an exciting and intriguing new twist on a forbidden work romance trope.

This book is full of heart pounding, intense, passionate romance and there is no doubt about the chemistry between Ted and Abby. These two clearly complement each other and it’s hard not to be cheering and rooting for their relationship success.

I absolutely loved Abby!! She was so sweet, good-natured, relatable, and easy to connect to!! She’s clearly the type of character you could totally see yourself being friends with!! I appreciated her hard work, dedication, and need to be self-reliant. Abby describes having watched her mom always needing to rely on a guy to get by and pay her bills, and how she never wants to ever be put in a similar situation, so she works even harder to be financially secure and independent. Huge respect props and admiration for Abby!!

I think what I love most about Jennifer Wilck’s writing is her ability to create, grow, and fully develop realistic, multi-dimensional characters that are genuine, original, and completely relatable!! She doesn’t write cookie-cutter characters – these characters are flawed, imperfect, and full of insecurities and vulnerabilities!! These characters feel real which makes the story easy to get into, creates a meaningful bond with the characters, and an investment into how their story unfolds and their personal outcome.

There are some predictable scenes. However, there are still a few unexpected twists and turns that you won’t see coming!!

This book is Book Two of The Scarred Hearts Book Series. This book can easily be read as a standalone.

All in all, I really enjoyed reading this book and would absolutely recommend it!! I think all contemporary romance readers and romance fans will like this book too!! So, add it to your TBR List and get to reading - you won't be disappointed!!

“Problem?” Max asked. They’d stopped in front of their building.

She turned so fast, her hair caught on the stubble at his jaw. “No.” She brushed the hair away from his cheek, the slight textured stubble rubbing against her palm and sending heat straight to her belly. His lips parted, and he leaned forward.

Would he kiss her? Did she want him to? She shouldn’t, she barely knew him, but her skin tingled, her breasts tightened and her breath came in short gasps.

He didn’t kiss her. Instead, he reached his free hand out and stroked the side of her head, smoothing her hair in place. “Yes,” he whispered.

She frowned, and tried to hide her disappointment. “Yes, what?”

“Your hair is as silky as I wondered.” He let his hand glide down her neck to her shoulder, and the contact brought out goose bumps. “Are you cold?” he asked.

She didn’t know how to answer. Was it okay for her to say, “no, I’m attracted to you?” Or should she say “yes”?

As if he understood her dilemma, he let go of her hand, slid his arm behind her shoulders, and drew her into the warmth of his body.

The man was a furnace and she wanted to groan in pleasure. They stood toe to toe, his hand running up and down her spine, her breasts pressed against his hard chest. Would he kiss her? Should she kiss him? Her brain short circuited and desire flooded through her. All she could do was focus on the warmth flooding her, the soothing sound of his humming something she couldn’t quite catch, and the zings of desire running throughout her body.

MY BOOK REVIEW:

This book was such a cleverly entertaining contemporary romance read!!

This is the third book I’ve read from the incredible writer, Jennifer Wilck. I have thoroughly enjoyed her books and this one was no exception!!

I really liked this book!! It was super cute, engaging, inspiring, entertaining, and captivating!!

I loved the main characters, Naomi and Max. I really liked how relatable, likable, and personable the characters were. Naomi was easy to connect to and sympathize with. It wasn’t hard finding myself totally wrapped up with this character and practically biting my fingernails hoping it all works out for her and her daughters in the end this time. I really liked Naomi and Max together! There was an instant spark between these two! The attraction between them was strong and vastly described. It built a little fast, but this story is on the shorter end and I understand the story didn’t have the time to loiter in the buildup. Still greatly enjoyable and continues to remain on the realistic end. However, on a side note, I wasn’t quite sure what to think of Max at first. He was definitely charming and handsome, but with all those secrets and deception, I was so worried Naomi and the girls were going to get hurt. No spoilers on the particular details of how that all turns out. But I will say, Max does win me over in the end. And on another side note, how interesting that both men in Naomi’s lives kept big secrets from her… Perhaps that’s a guy thing… I certainly hope not!! And that there are still honest guys out there… Or maybe in today’s culture we all pretty much have some sort of secrets; it just depends how far you dig…

Wilck writes her characters with depth, that have emotional baggage, are dealing with real-life struggles, and are working on over-coming personal obstacles. She writes real-life characters that face real-world problems. Which is one of the reasons I love her books, because I know when I read it, I will be able to easily connect with the characters and possibly even grow with the characters in the story.

In addition, another thing I love about Wilck’s writing, and this book only further makes that case, is her development of strong, smart, sassy, female lead characters. Naomi, is that exact definition, she of course was significantly destroyed and distraught after her husband’s political scandal, but instead of completely hiding away forever, she comes back to D.C., reinvents herself, and rebuilds her life back up – even better this time. That does not just take money and time – that takes strength, courage, determination, and perseverance.

I like that this book touches on many topics such as love, romance, dating, friendship, family, hard life lessons, second chances, perseverance, growth, compassion, empathy, integrity, determination, faith, hope, forgiveness, moving on, challenges, starting over, new beginnings, fresh starts, overcoming obstacles, and so much more!

There are some predictable scenes. However, there are still a few unexpected twists and turns that you won’t see coming!

This book is Book One of the Ticket to True Love Book Series. This book can be read as a standalone.

All in all, I really enjoyed reading this book and would absolutely recommend it! I think all contemporary romance readers and romance fans will like this book too! So, add it to your TBR List and get to reading - you won't be disappointed!

Six-year-old bodies were good at many things— bouncing, hugging, and racing. Rachel was thankful they were also good at hiding her surprise. She met the hard gaze of Jessie’s father across the room. Eyes narrowed as if he suspected her reasons for being here. His broad shoulders were stiff. His jean-clad muscular legs were spread apart in a solid stance. Square hands fisted at his sides, and one of them held a menorah. Did he plan to throw it or club someone with it?

Giving Jessie a last pat, she rose. With an arm around Jessie, she extended her other hand to her father. “Happy Hanukkah.”

“Ms. Schaecter.” “Mr. Cohen.” “Oh, please,” Harriet said, “Such formality between

you two. Rachel, this is my son Benny. I mean Benjamin.”

Benny. Rachel filed the information away for later, along with his flushed skin at the nickname. Interesting.

“And Benjamin, this is my neighbor, Rachel. We’re not at a school event. You can call each other by your first names.” Harriet pointed at Jessie, who gripped Rachel’s hand so hard, Rachel’s fingers lost their circulation. “Except for you,” Harriet added. “You have to call her Ms. Schaecter.”

Jessie giggled. “Yes, Grandma.”

MY BOOK REVIEW:

This book was such a sweet, cozy, romantic, festive, and enjoyable read!

This is the second book I’ve read from the incredible writer, Jennifer Wilck. Last year I had the privilege of reading her book, “Learning to Love,” which is part of the Serendipity Book Series and I totally loved it, so I was very excited to read her latest work, “Waiting for a Miracle,” even though it’s not part of the same book series.

I absolutely loved this book!! It was super cute, warmhearted, and had all the feels!!

I loved the main characters, Rachel, Ben, and Ben’s 6-year-old daughter, Jessie. I really liked how relatable, likable, and personable the characters were. I really enjoyed Rachel. She is smart, caring, considerate, nurturing, and thoughtful. She is a teacher that loves her students, which is greatly reciprocated, and she always seems to go the extra mile for her students. I also liked Ben as he is charming, kind, respectful, protective, benevolent, and romantic. I really liked Rachel and Ben together! There was an instant spark between these two! The attraction between them was so strong and deeply described! Jessie is adorable! She is sweet, clever, curious, creative, social, confident, and resilient.

With Ben’s wife having recently passed, he was still struggling with missing her and her not being part of his daily routine. He was trying to cope with now being a single parent, balancing their schedules, possibly getting back to dating, and dealing with his meddling mom. Ben’s issues are very common to someone who recently lost their partner or even someone who is just a single parent. Rachel wanting to become a foster mom and contemplating whether she should date a student’s parent may not be as typical or as easy to connect with, but it still was an enjoyable story line.

I think the author did a fantastic job on her character development as these characters were so real, raw, and personal on many levels!

This book quickly took off right from the beginning and held a continuous and captive fast to steady pace as the book only had 75 pages to get its story out! Even though it was on the much shorter side, the story did not feel rushed, the character’s seemed fully developed, and the story line was satisfyingly completed.

I love that this book has a Hanukkah theme since most holiday books and movies are all wrapped up in Christmas and there are so many other religions and holidays that should also be represented. I really enjoyed learning about another culture and tradition. I love books that teach you something in a fun and interesting way – and this book did just that!

I like that this book touches on many topics such as love, romance, dating, friendship, family, hard life lessons, second chances, loss, change, dedication, perseverance, adoption, growth, compassion, empathy, integrity, determination, Hanukkah, culture, traditions, passion, faith, hope, forgiveness, moving on, challenges, starting over, new beginnings, fresh starts, overcoming obstacles, and so much more!

Although, a short read, this book is a great introduction to a new author – Jennifer Wilck! This book provides an opportunity to just get your toes wet without the full commitment of jumping into one of Jennifer’s fabulous book series – which you will definitely want to also pick up lol.

This book is not part of a book series at this time and therefore, can be read as a standalone.

I would absolutely recommend this book, and this author as I was truly impressed with the quality of writing, intriguing story line, and excellent character development! I will definitely be continuing to follow this author and check out her upcoming books!
