Midnight stops. She feels something she hasn’t felt in three thousand years, something that possesses magic. It’s to the east in the mountains. She runs toward the beacon. She stands in front of a sheer stone wall hundreds of feet tall. There is a cave three quarters of the way up where the magic resides. If she tries to reach whatever is up there, it could potentially kill her. She’s come this far, but her journey isn’t over yet.

Midnight was exiled to earth with six Sorcerers by the evil Sorcerer Tay’Ron. She is a creature of magic, created by magic. She holds the gift of Sorcery from six Sorcerers who have passed on, and she is on a mission to find people on earth who are worthy of possessing this power. Her legacy must continue. Time is of the essence.

She possesses the gift of Sorcery. Midnight is a creature derived from magic, a fairy creature created from magic. She is not a Sorcerer. The six other Sorcerers are the six she carries inside of herself.

EXCLUSIVE EXCERPT:

It was the first week of November; the sun was going down when Midnight interrupted DeWayne’s writing.

“I know your writing is something you need right now, but we have to take a trip”

DeWayne looked up from his laptop. “Where are we going?”

“We need to go south and then west for a while, about a two-hour drive in all. We are going to an old hotel, and it is going to be our Sanctuary. I came across it in the late 1800s, when I was still looking for a cure for this disease. The place is large enough for everyone. It should be ready when the others come. You’re going to need directions to put into your book, so they know how to get there.”

DeWayne frowned at her. “The others as in the others you gave the gift to?”

She looked at him, a confused look in her eyes. “Of course, I mean the others with the gift. Who else is there? The gift isn’t active in them yet; it’s latent, but it will keep them healthy, and might improve them physically and mentally, but that would be all. Their gift still needs to be awakened before they can become Sorcerers.”

“Is this something that has to be done now, Midnight? I only have another day or two until I am finished writing this book.”

“You are not listening to me. You’re too busy with your nose stuck in that computer. You must include the directions to the Sanctuary in your book. So yes, this has to be done now.”

“Why do we need this Sanctuary, Midnight?”

“You are a Sorcerer now—with powers this world only dreams about. There are those that would take advantage of that given the chance. Governments around the world would seek you out and try and synthesize that power. Military would try and weaponize this gift to use it against their enemies. The general public would view you as a freak because they are afraid of what you can do. Exposing your gift to anyone will put your life in danger. There are five others who will come, and all of you must be protected from those that would do you harm.”

AUTHOR BIO:

Rick (Richard B.) Ogle was born in 1951 in Northern Ontario. This is his first appearance in the writing world. He worked for forty-five plus years as a journeyman fabricator/welder. In 1978 Rick wrote a short story titled "Storms" that turned into two books. His work always came first, so writing took the back burner. Writing of Sorcerers Reborn began in late 2000, but again work came first, so the book was not revisited until he was force into retirement in 2013.

In 1998 Rick went back to school to learn something that would get him out of his chosen trade as a fabricator/welder. In 1999 he spent six months as an adult literacy tutor and found that was rewarding when he saw the progress each student was making. He currently holds an Adult Instructors Diploma. He completed a six-month course to obtain an A+ computer technicians' certification. He has an AutoCAD certificate in drafting and design. He instructed classes for Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access at the North Cariboo Community Skills Center in Quesnel BC.

Rick is self-taught in HTML (Hyper Text Markup Language) code and built his website in 1998 while he was in school. He named his website "Poems and Short Stories by Richard B". That website is still going today. Home page URL: http://www.richardbees.ca.

Today is Earth Day, the annual event meant to raise awareness about Mother Nature’s health and the efforts being made to protect it. Environmental groups in countries all over the world are gearing up to take their message of good stewardship to millions of people.

Earth Day events commemorate what is considered the birth of the modern environmental movement. The first Earth Day was celebrated in 1970 on college campuses across the U.S. and was the invention of Gaylord Nelson, a former Democratic U.S. senator from Wisconsin whose idea for Earth Day was born out of watching the momentum of the student-led anti-war protests of the 1960s and his frustration with D.C. gridlock over enacting environmental protections. "It was a gamble," Nelson said of the movement. “But it worked."

It was Earth Day that largely led to the U.S. passing legislation such as the Clean Water Acts and to the formation of the Environmental Protection Agency.
