She's in the most dangerous place in the world.

Prof. Meridia Vail, a member of the Bridgeway Space Station, has escaped the government stronghold and is on a mission among the human population of this "new" Earth. She needs to find scientists, engineers, researchers, anyone who can help her and her crew get back to their derelict space station that has crossed over into a different dimension. The sooner the better, too. The Bridgeway is in a decaying orbit and has the potential to kill millions, if it crash lands on the planet.

Trusting anyone in this New Earth is going to be hard to come by. The authorities have branded her as a maniac who has escaped from a mental hospital. For the past five years, multiple countries have colluded in declaring no survivors from the Bridgeway Space Station incident. When Meridia's finally able to convince a university professor, Dr. Dana Haden, of who she is, Prof. Vail realizes she's not home-free yet. She has to convince the entire world who she is and expose the lies nations have been telling their citizens. Will governments be forced to free her crew so they can work the problem...or will they take their chances and nuke the station from orbit to bury their secrets?
EXCERPT TWO:

“Is there supposed to be something good in this fridge?” I asked, staring at the food lining the shelves.

Dana glanced over my shoulder. “Your guess is as good as mine, but I’m betting Decker keeps the good stuff in here.”

“It depends on what your definition of good is.” All I saw were containers of leftovers that were various shapes, sizes, and colors. Everything screamed of unhealthiness to me.

“How about we start simple?” Dana placed her hand on my shoulder and ushered me over to a nearby stool where I sat at the counter. “We have this thing on our Earth called a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.”

“I know what peanut butter and jelly is.” I paused. “It’s not that crunchy kind, is it?”

“Oh my God.” Giggling, she went through the cabinets until she found an unopened jar of strawberry jam. “What’s wrong with crunchy?”

“It’s…crunchy.”

“So it’s the texture.”

“You could say that. Everything is calm and serene when it comes to chewing the soft bread and gooey jelly…but then you hit the crunchy peanut butter that shatters the peace like a baseball going through a glass atrium. It’s barbaric.”

Dana laughed as she opened up the bread sack next. “So I guess there’s no crunchy peanut butter in your world.”

“Oh, there’s crunchy peanut butter for those who want it. I’m just not that savage.”

“Oh, stop.” Beaming, Dana threw a slice of bread that hit me in the face.

I laughed. “You must like crunchy then. I rest my case, savage.”

“You’re a real piece of work, you know that?”

We both laughed.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
GENRE:   Women's Fiction
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

BOOK BLURB:

When Jacqueline follows her trusty Labrador Bailey down a hidden path to the beach, she's unaware that her vacation plans on a small island off the New England coast has already taken her life in a new direction. Running into an unassuming local beach comber stirs new thoughts, desires, and a self-determination she never knew she possessed. Jacqueline will need to trust her instincts and make the most of what fate has in store if she wants the future that, until now, she has only dared to dream of.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
EXCERPT THREE:
With the sun barely over the horizon, Jacqueline awoke to Bailey licking her face and the best morning smell ever. Michael had the coffee pot simmering over the fire pit.
Jacqueline wasn’t ready to give up the warmth of her sleeping bag, so she managed to sit up while still inside it.
“Looks like you’re in a cocoon. Did you sleep well?” he asked.
“Surprisingly, yes. I was snug as a bug,” she said with a yawn.
“Well, one of the other reasons for camping out is to see the first rays of the sunrise, so let’s get you up so you don’t miss it.” He helped Jacqueline to her feet while she was still inside the sleeping bag. To remain steady, Michael had to hold her. She was all right with that.
I hope this sunrise viewing lasts a while.
Consumed by the beauty of the moment, Jacqueline felt a swelling from inside that took her nearly to the brink of tears as she looked out at the bright yellow rays that made the ocean glisten.
“We have a few clouds, which is a good thing,” he said. “It helps make the sunrise a bit more dramatic.”
“I bet you’ve seen lots of these,” Jacqueline replied while trying to compose herself.
“Yes, but I never get tired of it. It’s like seeing it for the first time every time,” he shared.
They both grew silent and took in the beauty of the early morning sky, and the warm connection of being so physically close to one another.
GUEST POST:
Falling in Love with the Main Characters
With Only In September, I was really focused on bringing my characters to life—it was my first time diving deep into character development. I built them around the kinds of people I’d like to meet and get to know, which made them feel more real and relatable.
I wanted readers to connect with them right away, so I gave my lead character a self-deprecating sense of humor—something that makes them feel human and approachable. For the second lead, I leaned into that awkward, unsure energy, because let’s be honest, we’ve all been there. At some point in life, we’ve either felt that way ourselves or recognized it in others. It’s a familiar experience, and I used it as a way to make readers feel instantly connected.
By giving my characters these quirks, I hoped to create a story where readers see themselves in the pages—where they feel like they’re meeting old friends rather than just reading about made-up people. At the end of the day, I wanted them to feel something for these characters, like they really belonged in their world.
From America to the streets of Paris, A New Life follows two friends as they navigate grief, love, and self-discovery in a city filled with history and hope.
A New Life is a story that lingers long after the last page.
EXCERPT ONE:
They spent the rest of the trip talking about Rhonda and how great she was, from the fight where she tried to protect Ron to the National Cemetery where she was left behind by accident at dusk, not found until midnight.
Louie and Ron had a chuckle over how Rhonda refused to walk on the sidewalks in Paris because of all the cigarette butts on the ground; she had to be pushed around in a baby carriage, because she did not want to burn her paws.
Louie started crying, and Ron comforted him, assuring him that the pain was fine; he needed to accept it.
“Rhonda was so smart,” Louie said proudly. "Some people don’t know the relationship between an owner and their pet. It is so special, so unconditional. Rhonda will always be a part of me. It was nice to bury her here in America, her home country.”
A while later, Ron and Louie arrived at their motel. Ron said to him, "Let’s get the luggage and go to bed. Hey, I was thinking when we get back to Paris, you should move in me with me and stop sleeping in the bookstore.”
Louie could not believe what he heard. Sharing more time with Ron would be special; he was excited to have that time together.
Trusting him could save her...or destroy her.
Robin Hood meets the Sopranos…an insanely dangerous scheme Gina Perot and her friends hatched to steal from the mob and donate the loot to a worthy cause. Successful Wall Street investment banker by day, cat burglar by night, Gina leads a double life. But she's never forgotten how the mob and the FBI destroyed her family and ripped her life apart. Now it's time for payback. Charity and revenge all rolled into one. Perfect. Until Gina's scheme sends her crashing headfirst into a major FBI investigation and facing heavy-duty federal obstruction charges. And, the hottest, most frustrating man she's ever met.
Stop stealing from the mob or else…is the order FBI Strike Force Special Agent Jack Gates gives Gina. But Jack quickly learns he can no sooner control a force of nature like Gina than he can control where a tornado sets down. Facing a court-ordered deadline, Jack needs Gina's cat burglar skills to help him bring down a powerful Mafioso. He makes her an offer she can't refuse: go to jail or work for him as an FBI cooperator. When the mob learns Gina's been ripping them off, Jack is determined to keep her safe at all costs. Even if that means confessing his terrible secret and losing her forever.
EXCERPT ONE:
She did not just do that. He actually had to squeeze his eyes shut for a second. When he reopened them, the view was the same. Creamy swells of the most perfect breasts peeked out of the laciest, sexiest black bra he’d ever laid eyes on.
His heart beat a little faster, and he prayed he didn’t get a colossal boner. Adding to his discomfort, that intoxicating scent of hers mingling with her natural body heat was like a warm vanilla-sugar bath. One he was on the brink of drowning in.
“What?” At her question, he snapped his eyes from her chest to her face. “I don’t have any pockets on this thing.”
“Yeah,” he muttered. “I see that.”
From the hallway, Kinsey snickered. Way too much amusement at his expense.
With the unsteady fingers of his good hand, he gently pressed the com kit’s power supply box against Gina’s taut abdomen. Heat from her bare skin seared his fingertips as he adjusted the box to fit into the hollow beneath her rib cage. “Hold that.” His voice sounded like someone had rubbed his vocal cords with sandpaper.
She held the box in place while he tugged her zipper up. With each tug, he had to reach inside her suit with his injured hand to keep threading the ear wire out the top of the material so it would reach to her ear. With every touch of his fingers on her soft skin, his body temp went up a degree. The same way it had yesterday when he’d gotten a good view of her shapely legs…those same legs that made him dream about dragging those incredible stockings off them with his teeth.
With a final tug, he yanked the zipper up to her neck and began hooking the earpiece around her ear. More sweat beaded on his forehead. If things got any hotter, his Glock would go off on its own. The woman didn’t seem to notice the torture she was inflicting on him. Or maybe she did, and that was part of her diabolical plan to exact revenge.
BOOK BLURB:
EXCERPT ONE:
United Region Water Laws: Established May 2167
Water restoration and conservation laws formed with the intent to restore and maintain the physical and biological integrity of the nation’s waters are our nation’s highest priority. Any ill citizens will be removed from government-proclaimed safety zones for the public’s well-being.
Black SUVs line the street, their dark tinted windows and their sparkling silver rims reflecting impending doom. But the windows cannot keep out the screams. Not the cries, nor the banging from inside the vehicles. It’s random health inspection day, and dozens of citizens have already failed, by the count of SUVs.
Josh stands to greet me with a kiss on the cheek, his silence speaking louder than words. I smile back and try to ignore the ominous SUV’s and to ignore what is happening.
“Sit down. Don’t draw any more attention to yourself than necessary,” Josh says.
My pulse is pounding, and my chest rises and falls quicker than I can control. Sweat drips from my brow. My stomach is tied in knots. I assess my body for early signs of illness. No sore throat. No muscle aches. No nausea. All I can do is wait in silence. Our words would be lost anyway, so I sit down at the table.
GUEST POST:
5 Reasons You Should Read My Book:
1.)  Everyone loves a good dystopian—an evil government, hidden conspiracies, and murderous plots designed to keep the truth buried. These are the stories that remind us of the importance of freedom, resistance, and the human cost of control. From The Hunger Games to 1984, dystopian stories show us how hope and rebellion can spark change even in the darkest societies.
2.)  Misguided Trust is about the importance of trusting others. But is everyone exactly who you think they are? Sometimes, the people we rely on the most might have hidden motives, secrets, or even betrayals waiting beneath the surface. The real question becomes: how do you know when to hold on—and when to let go?
3.)  Like the main character, Sarah, everyone has a dream for their life. One way or another, we all want things to “get better.” For Sarah, it’s the idea of birds flying free over the ocean—a symbol of hope, freedom, and escape from the constraints holding her back. Her journey is about chasing that vision, no matter what the obstacles, reminding us that sometimes the biggest leaps come from the simplest dreams.
4.)  In Misguided Trust, the government controls water. All water, and let’s face it—without water, we’re basically just confused raisins with opinions. It’s the magical elixir that keeps us alive, upright, and slightly less grumpy. Coffee? Just fancy water. Soup? Hot water with ambitions. Even your tears? Yep, emotional water. Our bodies are 60% water, which means technically, we’re just very emotional cucumbers trying to make it through the day. And what are we without it? Absolutely nothing, just like the inhabitants of a society where every drop is monitored, rationed, and weaponized. In this world, thirst isn’t just a physical condition- it’s a tool of control, and staying hydrated might be the most rebellious act of all.
5.)  My cute little dog sits on my lap while I write. He is a two-year-old King Charles Cocker Spaniel named Duke. And look at his face…isn’t that inspirational enough?
Father of One by Jani Anttola - Book Tour - Author Interview - Giveaway - Enter Daily!
Father of One
by Jani Anttola
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

GENRE:   War Novel / Literary Fiction

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
BOOK BLURB:
Maka, a young Bosnian soldier, has survived three years under siege. When the enemy forces launch their final attack on his hometown, he must escape to the hills. But traversing the vast woods is a task against all odds: to stay alive, and to find his infant son and his wife, he is soon forced to make a desperate move.
Set against the harrowing background of raging guerrilla warfare and the genocide in Srebrenica, Father of One is, at heart, a story of deep humanity, compassion and love. It is the account of one man’s desire to reunite his family, separated by war, and of bonds unbroken by trauma, sustained by loyalty and tenacity. Writing in a voice that rings with clarity and authenticity, Jani Anttola lays open a dark moment in Europe’s recent history.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

EXCERPT:

 This is it.

He would shoot some of them, then kill himself with the last one.

Maka counted his rounds. One in the chamber, four in the magazine. That was enough. And he had the grenade. He clipped off a cartridge and put it in his pocket. How many could he get? One? Two? More? He decided on three. A good number. He’d kill two on the road, then at least one more with the grenade when they stormed the house.

Three lives for his. It sounded like some sort of a deal.

He placed the muzzle of the automatic rifle into the rugged hole and took aim at the nearest soldier. He was about thirty metres away. Maka would drop him with a single slug. But when he looked at the man through the sights, over the blued metal of the gun, he felt bitter about dying this way. He knew the man outside was there to kill him and his kin, but what if he, too, was somebody’s father? He was probably in his forties and distantly resembled a clerk who had worked in the post office in Srebrenica. This Chetnik also wore a šajkača, with its V-shaped top making his head look like a pig’s hoof. He had a messy stubble and a moustache that seemed to hang from his long, thin nose, as he stood under the sun with weary eyes.

So, you’re here to kill me?

It’s you who’s going to die now. But I don’t do this because I like it.

If there were a way to leave this situation without killing anybody, let alone himself, Maka would do so. Just it was too late. It was far too much, and nothing could get it undone. He positioned the sights in the middle of the man’s chest and calmed his breathing down. He took the slack out of the trigger, until he felt the tiny resistance of the firing mechanism in his fingertip.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
AUTHOR INTERVIEW:
Are the experiences in this book based on someone you know, or events in your own life?
Yes, the story is closely based on someone I know, this Bosnian couple. I sat down with them for a series of interviews, then constructed the novel based on what had happened to them during the war. It’s an accurate account, but a work of fiction in the sense that there’s a lot of my interpretation and many of the side characters and such are fictional. But those also I created based on people who had been there, or who could have been there. I mixed up some things and added a few things. I had myself been a soldier in the Bosnian army, and I weaved in a couple of details from what I’d seen and experienced in the war. But it’s not my story at all.
Do you read your book reviews? How do you deal with bad or good ones?
Of course, I like to know what the reader’s experience was. You can always take something home, especially from the critical ones. There’s no need to “deal” with either good or bad reviews. The reader always interprets your work through their own lens, so their response is always valid, even when it’s different from what you intended.
What, in your opinion, are the most important elements of good writing?
A good story and a good technique. I see some writers who’ve honed their technique through practice and studying, so their prose is well polished, but the things they have to say are very pedestrian. I guess when most of us lead somewhat boring lives, it tends to result in boring narratives. Then there are the ones with interesting ideas, the kind that could contribute something to humanity if only they understood some basic creative writing rules. “Rules” and “creative” sounds like an oxymoron, but they’re there for a reason. Then you have the painful types who can’t handle either element, and finally those rare, brilliant ones who master both. I don’t know which category I fall into. That’s up to my readers to determine. But I’m of course trying not to be in the first three.
What’s the most difficult thing about writing characters from the opposite sex?
I believe that if you understand basic human psychology and have normal empathic skills, it shouldn’t matter much what your character’s gender is. One thing we men sometimes forget, though, is that for many women, the daily power imbalances and fear of gender-based violence are very real. If a male writer can weave that sentiment into his female character, he’s doing pretty well.
What are you reading now?
I often alternate between two or three books. Now I’m reading Steinbeck’s "East of Eden," and Coetzee’s "Life & Times of Michael K." Magnificent works, both.
