Plant a FREE Tree with Paul Mitchell #GreenTakeover

Green never goes out of style!!

Want to help make a huge difference?

Want to plant a tree without having to do the physical labor of actually planting that tree?

Paul Mitchell is on a mission to plant 500,000 trees by the end of 2016!  They have teamed up with Reforest Action and need your help!  Paul Mitchell is offering everyone a chance to plant a FREE tree to help them reach this goal!  All you have to do is go HERE, choose a country, and click select to plant the tree.  Then you must validate your entry either via Facebook or by creating a FREE account.  Basically it just wants to make sure you are a new user that hasn’t already planted a tree.  There are no fees or charges to participate.  All that is asked is to create a user name and provide your email address.  There are two options at the bottom to select to receive updates from Reforest Action and/or Paul Mitchell.  Neither is required or necessary to plant the FREE tree.  A confirmation email will be sent to the email address you provide, but nothing needs to be clicked on to validate plant.

Right now 113,000 trees have been planted in the United States and 23,000 trees have been planted in Guatemala – both countries have reached their goal and are now closed.  But your help is still needed!  Haiti and Peru have not reached their goal.

Here's how your participation makes a difference:

• Rainforest conservation
• Better health and nutrition
• Soil protection
• 0.3 tons of CO2 sequestered over 30 years per tree
• Additional revenues from year 7 of approximately $3,000/ha. In year 15, revenues will be approximately $7,000/ha and will be more than $15,000/ha 5 years later

Currently Paul Mitchell has planted 340,995 trees.  Please help them reach their 500,000 tree goal!

Wanderlust by Bernadette Marie - Book Blast & Giveaway - Enter Daily!

Wanderlust

by Bernadette Marie

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
GENRE: Contemporary Romance
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

BLURB:

Gia Gallow has traveled the world. Her wanderlust landed her in Georgia where she has created a life for herself away from the petty differences of relatives and domineering ex-lovers. Having settled in America, she has a successful business and dear friends—and the attention of both Dane and Russell Walker. Due to her own family's dramas over dueling hearts, she might have to forget about her feelings for Dane to keep peace within the Walker family, but sometimes even running thousands of miles away can't keep a heart from going after what the heart wants.  And Gia's heart wants Dane.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
EXCERPT FOUR:
Dane wasn't sure why his coffee suddenly tasted so bitter. It might have been the way his brother was looking at Gia when they walked through the door, and she was laughing at what he'd said.
Perhaps it was because his attitude had been affected by it and there had been no reason for it.
The way Russ had referred to her as a goddess still burned his ears.
Dane's mother orchestrated everyone through the kitchen, and they all managed to have full plates of food when they were done. She'd managed to set enough chairs and tables, strung together, to house all the guests. He'd seen her do that at Thanksgiving too. He could hardly find enough room on his little table in his apartment to eat his microwave dinner.
"Eric and Susan, you sit there," his mother pointed to chairs.
 "Russ, you there. Gia you there. Dane you there," she said pointing to three chairs near the end of the table which flowed into the living room.
"Let me take that for you," Russell smiled at Gia and took her plate.
"Oh, thank you. You seem to come to my rescue for everything."
"What can I say? I'm raised right."
Dane let out a grunt, which had both of them turning to look at him. He simply forced a smile
and took his seat—after Russ pulled Gia's seat out for her.
At least the food was excellent. Dane t listened to Pearl and Tyson tell stories about their wedding on the beach at sunset and their honeymoon filled with snorkeling and hiking near the waterfalls.
It wasn't that he didn't like hearing the stories or the awws that came from every female in the room, but watching his brother lean into Gia, and her laughing at everything he said, seemed to be raking on his last nerve.
He took his plate into the kitchen for another helping of ham. He was a sucker for ham and tiny bagels. It was something he couldn't explain.
"Does your family do this often?" Gia slid up next to him as he tried to delicately pull two pieces of ham apart.
Dane looked at her then at the table of family members who laughed and talked over one another. He shrugged. "Yeah, I guess. Mom's always putting together a brunch or a dinner."  Gia eased her hip against the counter. "You seem uncomfortable around them all."
"Nah, just all the gushy wedding stuff I guess." She pursed her lips. "You are not a romantic?" Was that a loaded question? "Sure. I mean I can be romantic. I just…"
She laughed and rested her hand on his arm. "I am sure you are the kind of man who could sweep any woman off her feet."
Dane cleared his throat, only because he'd choked on the air he sucked in when she'd said that. "I'm not too sure I'm very smooth with the ladies. My mind has been elsewhere for the past few months."
She nodded and picked up the serving spoon to ladle more fruit on to her plate.  "I understand. I still have some friends back home who will not speak to me because I moved away. I will admit before I left, I might have pushed them away."
"Why?"
She shrugged. "So I would not be hurt by leaving."
Maybe she did understand. "I get that. I think…"
"Did Susan make those little bacon wraps with dates?" Russ pushed in between them. "I didn't see them, but dad has one on his plate."
"Steal his then," Dane said through gritted teeth.
"Lighten up." Russ gave him a jab as he reached in front of Gia and grabbed the bacon on a toothpick. "Looks like I just missed them the first time." Russ ate the first one and then reached for another.
"Did you try these?" he asked Gia, holding it up to her mouth.
"Not yet," she said as he clamped the bacon wrapped date in her teeth and pulled it from the toothpick.
Dane was sure he heard both himself and his brother sigh.
She gave them a collective wink and carried her plate to the table, now occupying a seat left vacant by Pearl's father who seemed to have disappeared.
"Could you be any more of a pig?" Dane finally took both pieces of ham and dropped them on his plate.
"Are you talking to me or the meat?"
"You," he whispered gruffly. "You're throwing yourself at her. It's annoying."  "And you're not, so I don't see the problem," Russ argued as he returned to the table.
Dane stood there a moment trying to collect his thoughts. How had it happened that he'd moved away, and the world went on without him? He was finding out, very quickly, he didn't like it.
Excerpt Two:
From The Mapmaker’s Wife ~ Kathy L Wheeler:
A soft smile played over her lips to a distracting degree. Exactly one of the reasons he worked himself to exhaustion. “I suspect that’s precisely the reason she does it.”
He frowned. “Because I tell her not to?”
“No. She’s created a bond of sorts. She’s realized you won’t leave her unattended. It’s easy to see she craves your attention.”
A swift shock of anger hit him in the chest. “That’s ridiculous.”
“Is it?” She snipped the thread and tucked her project in a basket at her feet.
Her mouth firmed and it occurred to him, he spent way too much time contemplating her lips.
“It doesn’t matter; we shall be spending more time at the chapel.”
“The—” He stopped. Went over to Trudy and lifted her gently. He gazed down at the child God saw fit to leave in his keeping. Firelight danced over pure features, so innocent in sleep.
Perhaps Elizabeth was right. With Anne gone, he was all Trudy had. God’s own miracle in his arms.
An angel. Ha! Dark angel, more like. “Yes, well. It certainly can’t hurt.” He carried Trudy to the door and turned back to Elizabeth from beneath the arch. “You’ve more than earned your way today. Go to bed.”
Take Me to the Willow by Shelly Brimley - Book Tour & Giveaway - Enter Daily!
Take Me to the Willow
by Shelly Brimley
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

GENRE: Historical Fiction

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
BLURB:
In defending his life-long friendship with Charlie, Will may have inadvertently had a hand in the growing chaos that leads to the horrifying night when his familiar world is shattered. When Will Wright, the eighteen year old son of a small-town Arkansas sheep herder in 1905, begins reading his mother’s journal, he is inspired by its startling content to start putting his own experiences to paper for posterity. An unsophisticated but principled young man, Will is becoming increasingly aware of the hatred that exists in the world. When he begins his own journal, Will can’t know what events are to take place in the next five years – from his mother’s battle with a life threatening illness, to his embarrassments of learning how to be in love for the first time, to witnessing Charlie’s fate at the hands of the bigoted townspeople. While part of him wishes the pain in those pages didn’t exist, he knows that the original purpose for keeping the journal has been realized - to show his kin how he became the man he is. He will probably never go back through and read again the pages he’s written, but someday, someone will, and they will see that along with the hurt, Will’s life had been one that knew true joy, absolute love, and undying friendship.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

EXCERPT TWO:

"Stop playin’ games, Maryanne!" I shouted.

Maryanne startled, and she got a real serious look on her face. A few people inside must have heard me yell, and watched us through the window for a minute or two.

"So you called me out here to yell at me?" Maryanne said with a face as pouty as an old dried up raisin. "I never took you for such a bully, Will!"

"You are unbelievable!" I shouted. "You trick me into bringin’ Hannah here by tellin’ me that you’ve got good intentions—then you send me away so you can tell her lies about me. And for what? What did you think was gonna happen, Maryanne?—that Hannah would leave me because of it, and I’d come runnin’ to you? Well let me tell you that you are…"

"I’m what?" yelled Maryanne.

I paused and took a deep breath. I played out the conversation in my mind the way my anger was wantin’ it to go, and I… I decided against it. I remembered Hannah tellin’ me not to be mean. 'Don’t be mean,' I told myself. Just say what needs to be said and don’t be mean. So I held my tongue; didn’t know I had that in me.

Finally gettin' myself under control, I said calmly, "You know what, Maryanne? Hannah’s right. It isn’t worth it."

Maryanne took to cryin’, and I think I actually saw real tears for once. I turned and started to leave.

"Will, I love you," she said imploringly.

I stopped and looked at her with a new kind of sadness… maybe even pity.

"You don’t love me, Maryanne," I said. "You just want me because I’m the only one who doesn’t want you."

All that is human of Ricky is stripped away, and Jessica believes the last card has been played, but the Shadow Warrior turns his vengeance on her. Can Charlie save her before the demon claims Jessica as his own and returns to the bottom of the abyss?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
EXCERPT:
At 6:30 a.m., I received a routine disturbance call out on the Navajo Nation. The manager of the Tuba City 7Eleven on South Indian Route 101 called in a complaint of kids messing around his propane tank again. He hadn't gone out into the gloom to investigate. That was my job. The lights from the storefront didn't penetrate into the deep shadows around the tank. Had the tank not gleamed white in the weak dawn light, I would have walked past it for the thick brush and brambles surrounding it.
The aromatic scrub released its tang when I pushed it aside. I held fast to my gun with one hand and a heavy MagLite with the other. The body was behind the propane tank in a clump of kneehigh weeds smashed down by heavy foot traffic.
The sun was just coloring the horizon a thin crescent of smudged yellow, casting long shanks of light into the dark. I approached the body cautiously, not knowing who might be watching from the scrubland between the 7Eleven and the few houses scattered across a field to the west.
The MagLite shone obscenely bright on the body.
Tiny skitters of fear prickled my neck. I sensed a watcher. The light desert breeze teased tendrils of my hair from the knot at my neck. Something foul licked at the edges of the wind, and a guttural, harsh, whisper, "Heyya, heyya, heyya" swirled menacingly around me.
No one moved in the brush, but I felt a presence. Though his chant no longer rode on the wind, goosebumps rose on my arms and fear banded my chest. I touched the microphone button on my body com unit and called for backup from my fellow officers with the Navajo police.
Fewer than two hundred of us patrolled the largest Indian Reservation in the United States, and I was a young female officer desperate to make my bones. I wanted backup, but I also wanted to be the lead on the murder case.
