“Commander
Tanaka,” one of the Riders with her says. He is a tall, muscular guy. For a
split second, I think it is Gydeon. But then he steps in the light, and I see
he has lighter skin and looks older, “I don't think this will end well. Bear in
mind the CW's daughter and Grandmaster's son are involved. In fact, it looks
like Jayms ' son is leading this team. Opening fire might not be the best thing
to do.”
Commander
Tanaka doesn't take her eyes from our faces, “You want me to allow them to
shoot us without defending ourselves, Deon? Maybe you should be first target
then.”
“If
we open fire on them, they'll die.”
“So,
what? No one said we must bring them in alive. They simply said we must bring
them in. I'm not going to let them go because they are armed or let myself be
killed either.”
“But
the Grandmaster . . .”
“Enough!”
I jump as Tanaka finally snaps, all humour gone from her eyes. “We are not
Elders concerned with bloodlines and shit. Nyl Jayms and your team, I give you
one last chance. Drop, your, weapons, or you leave me no choice.”
Eleven
guns are pointed at our heads.
“Drop
them.” Andy says quietly.
I
give him a quick look over my shoulder. He is still leaning against the
driver's door, “It is not worth fighting for. Nothing is, when you think about
it.”
“You
are aware they might drop us in a wild forest full of snakes as punishment?” I
tell him.
