Ganina is a young girl with love to give, but giving it may cost her life.

Given to a famous old warlord to seal a treaty between two tribes, Ganina is a young girl with love to give. But Atulfa is old enough to be her grandfather. Then Atulfa and his oldest son die under mysterious circumstances and it is rumored that a younger son, Senec, has arranged their deaths.

Left without the old man’s protection, Ganina is fodder for the vicious torment of his other wives. She has no choice but to cast her lot with Senec.

Whatever he is, he is the new warlord and she is now at his mercy.

EXCLUSIVE EXCERPT:

Ifelsten opened his eyes on a groan. The vast expense of tent above him was unfamiliar and he cocked his head experimentally, trying to gauge the distance to the apex. That was when he realized exactly how drunk he had been. His head felt like the inside of a drum, but he would be expected to get up that morning and ride one of those furry-assed little Covetian ponies. Abruptly, he retched.

When he had rid himself of what seemed like half a flask of putrid Covetian wine, he lay back, panting. What in the name of the unholy did they put in that stuff? He had tasted no rotgut like that since his early days in the port cities of Westenia. Of course, he had been young then and thought he was immortal, pouring the stuff down like it was water and waking up in alleys. But now, improbably, he looked likely to be Chief of Westenia. The only other logical candidate for the title was busy planting something. After mapping out a military campaign, manufacturing lightning fire, leading troops and spilling an alarming quantity of his Juragian blood on Westenian soil, his friend Caln who had fought alongside him had calmly gone back to farming and fathering more children. Ifelsten shook his head, winced and cursed.

AUTHOR BIO:

Fantasy poetry driven by myths and legends has been my passion for as long as I can remember. I was published in poetry before catching the romance writing bug. I bring that background to my writing along with a lifelong addiction to horses, an 18 year career in various areas of psychiatric social services and many trips to Ireland, where I nurture my muse. My published works range from contemporary fantasy romance to fantasy historical, futuristic, science fiction and historical romance. Currently I live in rural Pennsylvania with a “motley crew” of rescue animals. You can see my books at www.miriamnewman.com.

    1. Thank you, it was fun. I got to be very fond of this character. He was the "bad boy" component.

  5. Thank you, Clara. Yes, reviews are always welcome. I personally think this book has a lot to recommend it, since it's definitely a blend of romance and action/adventure set against an exotic culture not often portrayed in romance work. So that makes it a little different, and I like different!
