GENRE: YA Romance, (Mature)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
BLURB:
He’s the boy who wants to disappear.
One mistake and seventeen-year-old Shake LeCasse lost everything. Now there’s no going back and no way to move forward. The once-popular Varsity hockey captain is living in the basement of a grandmother he barely knows, ditching school, avoiding friends and working hard on self-destruction.
She’s the girl nobody sees.
Cleo Lee survives however she can. Lie, cheat, steal, whatever it takes, and saving Mr. Popular isn’t part of the plan. Telling him the truth about the night that destroyed his life is downright dangerous. She needs to keep quiet, be smart and let the guy she’s been half in love with since middle school throw away a future she’d do anything to have. Too bad she sucks at playing it safe.
EXCLUSIVE EXCERPT:
I don’t know where to put my hands:
Cleo scoots closer, which rubs her ass across my crotch, and I woof like a startled dog. She snorts a laugh and offers me a bud. I slouch way, way down and she rests her forehead against my chest, her hands on my shoulders. We share, one bud in her right ear and one in my left, and listen to Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros.
She’s touching me. I feel each one of her fingertips, the press of her chest and puff of her breath. I smell her hair and might be imagining the light thump of her heartbeat against my belly. My whole body tingles as if waking up after an eight month sleep, and it’s both exciting and painful. I am as tempted to push her away as pull her close. In the end, I don’t know where to put my hands.
She’s wearing boys basketball shorts down below her knees. They’re shiny green and butt ugly. She’s sticking with the tired flannel, and her clunky boots are planted on the seat, one on each side of me. Her outfit makes no sense and no difference. I’ve seen her in a towel. I’m liking the shape and feel of her bony ass in my lap.
I take a chance. I place my palms on her knees. She tenses. I wait, count three Mississippi’s, then slide my hands up her legs, inside the shorts, over her thighs. She keeps still, so perfectly still she must be holding her breath. I can’t decide if that’s good or bad. This version of Cleo is a mystery. But she doesn’t slap me again, so I’m encouraged.
Except, we’ve got a problem. I’m too tall for the backseat of a compact car. I’m all bent up and my legs are unhappy. Everything starts to ache and cramp. I try to ignore it. My fingers are right there. Right effing there. Just brushing the edge of her panties, so close I feel the heat of her, but I’m in serious pain. If I don’t adjust, I risk paralysis.
I shift, which dislodges the earbuds and unsettles Cleo, but I slide so my back is against the door and my legs are on the seat. I’m still bent but not folded up like a paper fan. I maneuver Cleo so she’s lying on her back, between my legs, with her head under my chin. She huffs and squeaks and swears while I manhandle her, but once we're settled, she seems cool with it.
I reposition the bud and then rest my hands on her stomach. Now I’ve got better access, but I’m starting over. After a few more Mississippi’s, I slide my fingers back and forth, working my way under her flannel. My hands are big, especially compared to her. I span her rib cage, wondering how her organs fit into such a little package.
My fingers are poised for the jump to her tits, when Mystery Cleo says, “I knew your brother.”
I go still and say nothing for a long minute. “How?” My voice sounds as if it’s coming out of a ten-mile tunnel.
  5. I think every author dreams of seeing their book turned into a movie! Talk about exciting. But I would worry a bit about losing control of my story and having it turned into something I'm not happy with. I would rather stick with writing and connect with a wide group of readers. I've found that the people who reach out to me after reading my story are so kind and generous and inspiring. I'm currently editing a second book and I'm so so so anxious to get it out there and get feedback.
