My
Purpose for writing this novel is to bring generations of women together. My goal is to build a sense of camaraderie
that resonates with women of all ages.
For the older generations this novel acts as a time capsule. The novel is filled with so many emotions
that the reader will laugh, cry, and feel as though the characters have come to
life. As for the younger generations,
they are able to learn some of life’s lessons and know that other women have
gone through similar circumstances that they may be experiencing.

EXCERPT ONE:
He
hugged me tightly for so long I wondered if he’d ever let me go. Our cigarettes developed the longest ashes I
ever saw. As mine finally fell to the
ground, I was reminded of how quickly I fell for Johnny and how our
relationship had been burning for the last three years. Eventually, we, too, like that ash, would
fall. We would end up a memory of
something that burned so deeply into our souls and it too would eventually turn
to ash.
Such
thoughts swirled through my mind, as I drove without a destination. Eventually, I found myself at the park where
Johnny and I went that fateful night when he showed me the secret overlook and
took my virginity and my innocence. I
decided to park the car, then I grabbed my emergency blanket, flashlight, and
cigarettes and walked toward the precipice where it all began.
A
tear fell down my cold wet cheek. I
sighed and gave him my heartbreaking answer.
“Honestly?” I held back my tears
as best I could. “I want you to leave me
alone, Johnny. I want you to love me enough
to let me go. I want you to help me
finally get over you by staying the hell away from me. I want you to stay out of my life and let me
be. Please, Johnny, I’m begging you.
“I
want to be happy. I deserve that, and
you of all people know it. Since I can’t
have it with you,” I said, crying a little harder, then I deserve to have it
with someone else. So, please, Johnny,
if you love me like you say you do, you’ll let me go.”

AUTHOR BIO:
Katie L. Oslin is a
Midwesterner who started writing diaries, poetry and many short stories at a
very young age. As a newly published
author THE DETAILS OF MY REALITY is her first novel.
She
is also a wife, mother and bachelor’s prepared registered nurse. Living on the coast of North Carolina, she
frequents the beach and finds inspiration in the sound of the waves and the
solitude of her surroundings.

ReplyDeleteThank you! I am very excited about this journey! I have truly been blessed. This photo was taken in Asheville, North Carolina by a friend of mine. I was there with other members of She Works His Way (a Biblical and Business driven group of women)- for a business, worship and Bible study conference and believe it or not, these balloons were part of the decor. And that beautiful background- well it was one of the precious buildings on the campus. When I see a photo op- I take it!!

ReplyDeleteI am a dreamer. Always have been. I think of stories and draw inspiration from life around me. Being a writer to me is more of a purpose, or calling. I feel as if it chose me.
DeleteWhile this book is your first and only recently published, what do you have on your computer now? What's next?
ReplyDeleteI am in the final stages of editing my next novel titled Passed Down. It follows an infertile couple who find a doctor willing to help them conceive in vetro so long ads they abide my his rules. He develops a designer baby or genetically enhanced baby and begins to treat them as a science experiment. But, what they don't know is that their child is also a twin and he is performing two experiments touching on nature versus nurture. Eventually they ALL meet and the cat is let out of the bag so to speak.
