51 Love
by Jeremy T. Ringfield

GENRE: New Adult Contemporary Romantic Suspense

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
BLURB:
This story is about Abram, a hopeless romantic who enrolls into college and begins leaving love notes for the girl, Jec, who works at the front desk of his student apartments. About why they know each other when neither have even met. That's right, she had seen his face only two weeks earlier, when he tossed his book bag in the middle of the street, holding up traffic like a mad homeless man. But what she doesn't know is that just before he came to grab his keys to move in, the handsome albeit strange eyes and the person they belong to had just been released from the county jail.
The jail cell talk without any cameras around to record make his last 51 minutes in the pen with a sketchy bunkmate a do or die conversation that may explain why he became homeless, why he wrote the love letters in the first place, and if both were random at all.
EXCERPT FOUR:
Chapter 9
The same day in August, 2015
I think, for the price of a pizza, the experience of the novel is priceless.
A literary ecstasy, this was not a book I wanted to lend. I had to have it.
My co-worker interjects my thoughts, “Is that lighter fluid? What is he burning out there in our fire pit? I’m telling you Jec, that dude killed somebody. You haven’t seen him around as long as I have. The way he’s always scrunching his face, looking like a stone cold killer with all that stinking thinking. Some people struggle with who they really are. And when it goes foul, you know they don’t always catch these people.”
He picks up and holds out the book I am reading titled Wait For You, and says, “Some novels you have to read twice to really see all the beauty in the nuances, but these plots don’t always end beautifully Jec. You should start reading more of them.”
I take a bite out of an apple and stop scratching my thumb across a squiggled smear on my permanent marker to look out the window as I reply to my front desk co-receptionist, “Bobby, you’re being ridiculous. It just looked like he pulled some papers from a box and threw them into the pit. Hey, where’d he go?”
Bobby answers quickly, “No really, have you seen him using his hands on the street? He’s probably practicing some lethal judo that nobody knows right now. Hi-yah!—”
Ding-Ding.
At the sound of the front door bell I tried to smother my giggle in professionalism, but I no longer found it necessary to suppress as the blurry silhouette of the person entering the front door became clear and my laughter came to a sudden halt.
INTERVIEW:
Good morning Jeremy!  Welcome to Fabulous and Brunette!  We are thrilled to have you here and can’t wait to learn more about you and your new book, “51 Love.”
What is your favorite ice cream flavor?
Birthday cake
Great choice!  I LOVE Birthday Cake flavored ice cream too!
Which mythological creature are you most like?
So wish it were true, but I would like to think that I am most like a fairy. Fly with discreet powers.
First book you remember making an indelible impression on you.
        Captain Underpants. Those books still make me want to jump into the page.
How do you develop your plot and characters?
        I design my plots and characters to have an emotional justice in mind for the end. I usually listen to a song first to get myself almost emotionally irritated. I don’t use much of an outline. I have enough going on in my head to let it fall onto the page where I feel it is supposed to. I just bounce off dots to rationalize which direction they are going in. That’s probably one of the main reasons I enjoy writing, because I get to live through it.
Describe your writing space.
        I love this question. My writing space is very open. I like a lot of space around me because I am very animated when I write, bobbing my head and waving my arms to a beat every now and then. I use a pen/pencil often because I like how much my mind roams when I doodle. It gets weird sometimes too I suppose. LOL I have to keep a notepad with me at all times because it will just come out. I remember the first time I woke up and out of a dream in the middle of the night in sheer laughter, and ran to my notepad. I’ve come to accept this as my new normal now.
Thank you so much for spending time with Fabulous and Brunette readers and sharing your exciting new book with us!  We wish you all the best on your book tour!
    1. Thanks for the question Angela : ) I wanted my characters to be flawed. I wanted real, down to earth personalities who show signs of being morally enigmatic.
  5. Hi Jeremy!
    Which scenes are the hardest to write and why?
    1. Hi Betul : ) I think the hardest scenes to write are the crying scenes. Its sometimes difficult, because I want to put as much emotional detail in the story as I can, and that requires me to feel those emotions too. And I cry. lol But there's always some joy that comes after, which is why I love to write. GREAT question, I appreciate that one.
    1. Hi Joseph! I am falling head over heels for Rainbow Rowell's Eleanor & Park. I really want to get into YA because there's a certain disregard for prestige associated with that age range, and Rowell's E&P is so raw, I can't put it down. Like, she's definitely flicking cigarette's at rules in that book, and it is truly inspiring.
    1. Hello Lisagee. Hmm...I went to a place located on the bay, in Saint Leonard Maryland a couple years back. It was really fun because they have this annual Tiki Bar opening in the spring, and in an otherwise small town year round, the city comes to life for this particular weekend when thousands of people show up from up and down the coast. It was Ah-mazing, and I'd like to go back with a bigger group of friends.
