New Directions
by Jude Pittman and Jamie Hill

GENRE:  Romantic Suspense

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
BLURB:
Texas PI Kelly McWinter is back in action, mixing business with pleasure on a long delayed honeymoon. Providing security for a nominee at the Country Music Awards sounds like glitz and glamour, but Kelly and Gillian find themselves chasing kidnappers in California and tracking a killer in Las Vegas.
EXCERPT TWO:
“Of course. I follow her career on ET, and if I didn’t I’d be getting the details from Aunty Stella every time we talked anyhow. Marcy Fischer is one of this year’s nominees for the Country Music Academy’s female vocalist of the year.”
Kelly chuckled. “Guess there’s not much point trying to surprise you. Did Stella tell you about the crazed fan who broke into Marcy’s house?”
“My God, no. She isn’t hurt is she?”
“No, at least not physically. He scared the hell of her though, and Mark, who as you know is stuck in Russia, is fit to be tied.”
“Oh, I sense a PI project on tap.”
Kelly chuckled. “You know me too well. But you might like this one a lot better than some of my other jobs.”
 “I’m all ears. First, tell me about Marcy’s break in.”
“One of her over-zealous fans climbed the wall surrounding her Nashville property, used some kind of jammer to disarm her security system, and almost made it up the stairs to Marcy’s bedroom.”
“Where was her husband?”
“Apparently Mark has gotten pretty involved in politics these past couple of years. He’s a member of the legal team that President Obama sent over to Russia to oversee the review of documents discovered in one of those Nazi vaults in East Germany. It’s only recently that Russia conceded that the Western world had a right to work alongside their own researchers to establish provenance of the materials. It’s an honor to be named to the team, but it’s a long process. Mark won’t be back for at least three months. Marcy’s been on her ownwell, she’s not alone, like any celebrity she’s always got an entourage, but she doesn’t have her husband.”
“She must have been terrified.”
“She was, and believe it or not, the only reason the intruder didn’t reach Marcy’s bedroom is because Stella had given her one of her dog Lucy’s puppies.”
“Really. Hear that Jake. Good breeding.”
Jake lifted his nose and shook his head, before nuzzling it back down on Kelly leg.”
REVIEW:
Wow!  Wow!  Wow!  I totally loved this book!  So much fun, excitement, mystery, suspense, romance, and more!
I loved the main characters, sexy Texas PI Kelly McWinter and his sassy and savvy wife, Gillian.  The couple finally goes on a much needed and much delayed honeymoon only to find themselves thrown back into work chasing down kidnappers and even a killer!
Kelly and Gillian agree to provide security for a nominee at the Country Music Awards, but it’s not as straightforward as they thought it would be.  With kidnappers, killers, and a militia group nothing is as it seems and only one incredibly smart, handsome PI and his wife can solve these cases.
Although this book is book one of the McWinter Confidential book series, these characters have been featured in other books.  However, it seems that you don’t need to have read those other books beforehand to follow and understand the story.
Both of these authors are new to me, but as I extremely enjoyed this book I will definitely be checking out their other books and will continue to follow this new series.
Even though there are two authors, the writing style is very fluid and descriptive.  The pace is even toned, but filled with lots of exciting and suspenseful scenes.  I have found in the past that books with multiple authors don’t always read so comprehensive – this book is definitely an exception!
This book was a super quick read with only just over 150 pages!  I actually finished this book over a weekend.  It was such a great read – it was hard to put down!
I would absolutely recommend this book to anyone looking for a funny, exciting, and intriguing read filled with wit, mystery, suspense, and romance!
  3. Thank you so much for that wonderful review. I've been in love with the Kelly McWinter characters for years, the previous books, Deadly Secrets, Deadly Betrayal and Deadly Consequences are also featured at Amazon, they're often on countdown for .99 cents, and I believe I tried to have them set up that way during this promotion (as much as Amazon would allow). The early stories all feature Kelly, his history and what led him to move from being a regular cop to eventually becoming a PI. Readers meet Stella, Gus and Cam in Deadly Secrets then Gillian and Marcie comes along in Deadly Betrayal. The books are meant to read alone but they definitely tell a story, that continues to be even better since Jamie and I joined forces. We're already brainstorming ideas for Loose Change. Thanks again, for the wonderful review, it's so awesome when a reader really understands your characters and loves their stories. Jude Pittman
